I'm sure the gophers spend a lot of time with the top end talent in the state. I'm not sure what kids you've talked to but if the coaches haven't talked to them then they aren't up to the level that the gophers are looking for (probably NDSU type of recruits).

Have you seen the previous gopher teams when we had a lot of Minnesota boys on the team? We weren't very good. Minnesota doesn't have enough talent to field a good college team which is why most recruits are out of state. Now if you wanted to argue whether or not PJ could be doing a better job...

It is possible that the 7 and 8 seeds could get blown out but it gives smaller schools a chance which I think is important, and who wouldn't like seeing some new teams in the playoffs?

I kind of get that but the committee already favors the SEC. I think the 4 extra teams could help give some power 5 teams and especially non power five teams a shot who would never have the possibility with only a 4 team setup. A mid major team would never have a chance to get in with only 4...

Obviously the Gophers have a ways to go to get to the point of national championships. I was just saying that it would be a way bigger deal at MN and similar colleges that haven't competed for championships in a long time than it would for blue bloods.

I agree for the most part. For "dormant" blue bloods who haven't been competing for championships for awhile, (USC, Nebraska, Miami, Notre Dame, etc.) winning a championship would still make that coach a legend but not to the same effect as at MN.
