    Targeting

This is part of what makes this rule so difficult to interpret and enforce. Defensive player coming full speed at an offensive player at full speed. Offensive player either by instinct or on purpose lowers his helmet or even is sometimes falling down... Defensive player who would have hit the...

Official Brad Davison is a Tool Thread

He absolutely did say that it was smart when it happened. He did say it was clearly a foul as well. He also said opposing teams are not a fan of BD, "because he plays so hard." I get that announcers maybe don't want to call college kids dirty players, but they know the history and could tell...

Official Brad Davison is a Tool Thread

Watching Wisconsin and Texas A&M right now while I'm working, and Davison did the same cheap move, grabbed and locked the dribblers arm, refs don't see it and A&M gets called for travelling. Jay Bilas says its smart because the refs didn't see it. Not sure how you prevent d*cks like Davison...

So far I am totally wrong...

I agree, but we never gave Pitino a pass on injuries either. (and rightly so) It totally sucks that they both went down, but its the coaches job to build a passable bench. Again, I think we all have low expectations for this year and Fox/Ihnen injuries aren't going to be the difference...

So far I am totally wrong...

I will also eat some partial crow, as an appetizer, not a full meal. Really like what I see in terms of team defense, ball movement on offense leading to better shots, and overall smart play. They are playing tough, playing together, and seem to be very cohesive. I don't see a lot of dumb...

    Fleck

Like everyone else, I am incredibly disappointed and angry about the "not to lose" mentality of Fleck. Not only is it bad strategy, it sends a terrible message to the players. Not going for it on the road against your rival on 4th and goal from the 2? Where you haven't won since 1999, and...

    This isn't going as planned

So even if you're right and Ben was only considering 3-4 players from last year's team to stay, then he missed on all except one. I'm not complaining about any specific player, but the percentage is really poor. Of course some are going to leave. Not being able to sell the vision to all...

    This isn't going as planned

Are you implying he wanted all of them to leave except Ihnen?

    This isn't going as planned

Spot on. The apologists are telling us that losing the entire returning roster except Ihnen (and now Curry, I guess) doesn't matter, and that its all about 2022. But you have highlighted several coaches that were able to get really competitive transfers eligible for 2021 while STILL amazingly...

I thought they hired this coach cause he could recruit? So where are the players?

The biggest concern for me is not the W/L record for 21/22. It is the apparent inability of BJ to sell the vision for the program to enough highly regarded transfers or even the players who were ON the roster - who are all now transferring out. Obviously many teams go through a mass exodus...

Doug Woog Era About to Begin?

Separate question than how good we would be: is there a D1 state program that actually HAS done this or successfully does this today? I know some other posters have looked at this historically, but I don't know if we have a conclusive answer. For example, if say, Ohio produced 6 of the top...

***OFFICIAL ILLINOIS AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

He got to the rim very well and finished at Indiana a few days ago. He shot decent too. He is capable. He is not put into a position to do it often due to the shitty offensive “plan”.

agree- you wonder how productive a guy like Tre Williams could/should be with good coaching. I imagine him on Purdue being a super efficient and productive 6th man. On our team he usually looks like everyone else- unsure what he’s supposed to be doing, with flashes of brilliance.

At this point I hope we lose by 40. 50 not out of the question. If Coyle isn’t already in process of finding the next head coach, this has to be the final straw.

***OFFICIAL ILLINOIS AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Your argument is about roster construction being the problem but you contradict yourself. Running a system to get the ball in the post is coaching. Having guards who can feed the post is coaching. You don’t need talent to feed the post. You need to be coached how to do that. The shooters...

***OFFICIAL ILLINOIS AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

agree. That is why this year is so disappointing. Pitino finally put together a roster with talent and depth. A player of the year candidate in Carr. Some great transfers in Robbins and Brandon Johnson. (I won’t count Gach because he’s been an epic disappointment.) plus lots of good role players...

There’s no shortage of quit in this team when things start going poorly.

***OFFICIAL ILLINOIS AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

We take the absolute worst low-percentage shots. Tre 19 footer fall away with 20 seconds on the shot clock. Curry trying to dribble through 3 guys from the top of the key? Carr fall away from the baseline with 20 seconds left and nobody else touching the ball. Either there is no scheme or...

Back to 17 wins to be “completely safe” heading to BTT

Playing Osseo high school would not be an easy game for the Gophers, if it was on the road.
