U of M Total Operating Revenue by Sport for 2024 (football is 75%, other 18 sports are 25%)

I doubt it increased revenue at all. I would suspect the Gophers were an outlier in terms of TV interest among college hockey teams in general. What it was supposed to do from a BTN standpoint, is provide more content to the network, but it seems like they hardly spotlight hockey at all.

Scoggins: Mark Coyle could frustrate some Gophers coaches with revenue-sharing plan

I thought they had a TV deal with Midco sports.

U of M Total Operating Revenue by Sport for 2024 (football is 75%, other 18 sports are 25%)

And they did. Back before they were forced into the B1G, the Gophers had their own TV deal with MSC, which became Fox Sports North etc. Go into any bar on a Friday or Saturday night and the Gopher hockey game would be on at least one TV. That had to be a hit to revenue for the program.

Shama: Medved is a popular hire as the new men’s Golden Gophers basketball coach. That won’t translate immediately into big crowds at The Barn though

They could schedule that tiny non-accredited bible college in Bemidji that NDSU beat by 150 or so a few years ago.

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

Collectively, St Thomas has raised over $56 million since the announcement of the Anderson gift in January of 2023. This included 13 gifts of $1 million or more, six of those being greater than $5 million. In all, 35 gifts were closed to reach the $131 million goal.

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

The point is, UWGB isn't a major program. What I'm getting at, is in hoops, any super-rich person could buy a college team with enough money. It's why I've been saying for a long time that within five years, UST will probably be a much better basketball program than the Gophers. They have...

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

Problem with the non-con scheduling with the other most powerful conference, is that someone always has to lose. All teams like to pad their record and stats by beating up the Middle Tennessee States of the world.

    Leach Eligible for HOF

If you're talking about Craig James' kid, Leach was 100% in the right. I SO wanted Leach here when we hired Jerry Kill, but the administration at the U is too risk averse.

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

Not necessarily, because there are still really limited spots on a basketball team. I've said before, you could have some rich whale decide to bankroll an all-star team for some nobody school like UW Green Bay or NJIT (insert any nobody school here) and it would work. I wouldn't be surprised if...

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

Well, on paper, they are all Division 1 - FBS teams. Everyone from Kennesaw State to Ohio State. So in theory, they should all have a shot at a title. Like in every other level of the sport.

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

So you're readily admitting this is about TV ratings and your entertainment value than it is about teams actually competing on the field for championships. Just be honest. Never mind that part of the reason people love March Madness is the upsets.

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

Sure, but then the G5 should have their own post-season playoffs and championship. Otherwise, why are those teams playing? Literally every single D1 basketball team has a shot, no matter how remote, at winning a national title. Literally every single FCS and lower (with the exception of the...

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

I've said this many times, but then there needs to be a formal split between the P4 and G5 conferences and the way they run their postseasons. I still maintain that it should be a 16 team tournament with ALL FBS conference champions as auto bids, and 7 at large, but no seeding advantage for...

    Seeding Changed for Upcoming Season

I think too many people want there to be matchups that will personally entertain them rather than having teams like Boise in the playoffs that have earned their way in via the regular season as it works in every other sport. I'd rather see the SBC or CUSA champion in the playoffs over say, a...

Pretty sure a degree from UMD just says "University of Minnesota" so technically, it kind of is. If we compared Bemidji State to Michigan, that would be more accurate.

St Thomas Basketball Censorship on the Golden Gopher Basketball Forum Poll

I'm assuming Finn either got kicked out of UST, couldn't get into UST, or is one of the whiny homeowners in the Mac-Groveland neighborhood who doesn't like living near the college, despite the college being there for over a century before he was even born. There's no other rational reason for...

I've said over in the football forum, that I wouldn't be surprised to see a player "sign" with a team in the CFB playoffs after their team's season is either done, or they're only in a minor bowl. Imagine in the current environment when Randy Moss was playing for Marshall and there's a...
