WBIT Game 2: Gophers visit Missouri State (3-23-25)

I’m enjoying watching Mallory do all of the things that don’t show up in the stat book, but that are definitely needed by the team. Unfortunately, both announcers are being color commentators, and neither is doing play-by-play.

    B1G Game 16: Gophers visit Purdue (2-19-25)

Since the body structure of females (angle of hips through the knees) is more predisposed to have ACL tears, it may also affect their recovery time. It definitely depends on the athlete, and how bad the tear was. I have seen girls come back in 8 months, and I’ve seen others that took 15 months...

    B1G Game 16: Gophers visit Purdue (2-19-25)

I really like Mallory‘s game. She does all the things that don’t make the stat book, but which make a team successful. A glue player.

B1G Game 14: Gophers visit Ohio State (2-13-25)

In addition, you have to consider the process. Sophie‘s family has been fighting for this extra year for almost a full year. I remember talking to her mom last year and they were applying at that time, and it didn’t get approved until just a few weeks ago. That’s a big unknown to place on Mara...

B1G Game 14: Gophers visit Ohio State (2-13-25)

My daughter played for Coach P for 5 years, due to the combination of a red shirt and a Covid year. (She spent her first year on the bench with the red shirt, but developed so much in that time!) Over that 5 years, she learned so much both on and off the court, as did all of the other girls on...

B1G Game 14: Gophers visit Ohio State (2-13-25)

No, not for a medical. For a medical red shirt, it is only the current year that applies. 30% or less of games played in the current year.

B1G Game 14: Gophers visit Ohio State (2-13-25)

I’m happy, and enjoyed watching this game. They got some calls that didn’t go their way, they were down big, but they didn’t give up. They dug in and came back and took it to overtime against the #9 team in the nation. Yes, it is a loss, but how many of you can say that you were expecting it to...

I should let you know, my daughter is Hannah, one of the “big 3”… my husband and I are also lifelong gopher fans, but grew to love the Coyotes. We hope that it can return to a stronger position, to develop a deeper Summit League but we are very glad to have Coach P here in Minnesota. What she...

    McKenna Johnson's Playing Time

I totally agree with you. I see that you are a Jackrabbits fan, so I know that you are more than familiar with Coach P. As a Coyotes fan and parent of a former player under Coach P, I can second that under her system, if you want to see the floor, you need to consistently put in the effort at...

It’s also well documented that female bodies are much more prone to ACL injury due to the angle of the bones from the hips through to the knees. The knees are aligned differently than in males, and it affects the ligaments.

Yes, we would like to see some more of Maggie Czinano in her senior year. She has quickness and is definitely a team player, and knows the offense . She struggles a bit on interior defense, following her player through screens, but is pretty good on perimeter guarding. And Nia Holloway is an...

    Other B1G Conference Games 2024-25

We have some very good shooters. Heyer, Grocholski, Stewart, and Battle are all decent from the arc, Sophie is fun to watch inside, as well as several of them that are great at driving and putting up tough shots. UCLA just had depth and excellent defense today. They got on a roll, and our...

    B1G Game 11: Gophers visit UCLA (2-2-25)

Some players would probably do a lot better at the mid major level.

    B1G Game 11: Gophers visit UCLA (2-2-25)

UCLA is a very big team, not just height, but also muscle mass. They are strong, they are confident, and they have a lot of future WNBA draft (and lottery) picks on their roster. We are hanging in this game, when nobody expected us to, despite being without one of our best players. I think we’re OK.

    B1G Game 11: Gophers visit UCLA (2-2-25)

Heyer is definitely providing offense. She sets screens. She moves without the ball. She enables other people to take shots. Maybe she’s missing her own, but she’s definitely providing offense as well as defense.

B1G Game 10: Gophers visit Southern Cal (1-30-25)

And she does this very well. She is tenacious at on-ball defending, staying with the toughest guards on the other team for the past several games. She creates steals and tips, as well as forcing bad passes. And for being so small, she gets more rebounds than I would expect. Yes, she is not a...

B1G Game 10: Gophers visit Southern Cal (1-30-25)

In addition to poor defense, Johnson does not create offense for others, instead she is always looking to get the ball for herself. She doesn’t intentionally move without the ball to set screens or assist others.
