I am taking the term 'control guard' to mean additional ball handlers who can assist in controlling the ball, bringing it up the court, etc. As opposed to PG, who runs the offense and primarily distributes the ball. Am I right, CoMn? Close, but missing nuances? Or a straight up whiff?

It should go without saying, for transfers, a player's performance in college should supersede their 'star ranking' coming out of HS. The level of competition that a player has faced also matters. Some on this thread suggest that the terms 'mid-major' and 'low-major' represent a distinction...

It is semantics in the sense that some terms mean some things--and other terms mean other things! If we use the terms, we must think they have some sort of meaning--even if they are not deeply meaningful... But--using the words accurately will assist us to understand what you are trying to say...

Spot on. If we are going to use the terms, we may as well use them accurately--with the understanding that they represent general categories and will be just one factor among many when we evaluate a transfer. As another poster said, "not dispositive".
