All Things COVID-19 College Football Impact

My take is that I seriously doubt that the BIG10 will not make a unilateral decision one way or the other. I doubt that part of the conference will play while other parts do not. It will be all or nothing, whichever way they decide to go.

Mike Sherels: I do not think that I will return to collegiate football in my life...

I've known Mike and his family for about 7 or 8 years now and I can tell you, he is one of the best. I certainly understand his decision but it is the coaching profession's loss, I can tell you that.

PJ Fleck is recruiting like he plans on being here a long time

Don't think for a minute that some well-known schools haven't taken a run at him already. The contract extensions certainly help, but even more than that is the fact that we have an A.D. that HIRED Fleck and has a great relationship with him and has given him everything he needs to make...

STrib: Coach Lou Holtz was building Gophers into a football power. What if he never left?

I was just watching some old Gopher games on BTN. They had the Michigan game here when Jerry Kill was coaching and Philip Nelson was the QB. I was astounded at how many mistakes we were making throughout that game. Just about every time we got inside the Michigan 10 yard line, we had a...

USA Today: Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh discusses coronavirus in interview, shifts conversation to abortion

Just my 2 cents worth, but if you do not believe in abortions, then what type of birth control do you favor? If it is the pill, then you'd better re-think your choice, because the pill is merely a form of very early abortion. I, myself don't choose to play "God" so I'll leave that up to the...

STrib: Coach Lou Holtz was building Gophers into a football power. What if he never left?

That is what bugs me the most: Minnesota fans are constantly in fear of a Coach rebuilding the Gophers and then leaving, just like our other coaches, when, in fact, the ONLY coach to have done so previously, was Holtz. Every other football, or basketball, coach, has left here at the request of...

    Extend Fleck

I could be wrong, but didn't we just extend him 2 month ago? Imagine the press and the public seeing an extension and a raise for our football coach when 6M people are applying for unemployment. I don't think that's going to play very well and I also don't think there's any danger of Fleck...

    Jabril Cox, NDSU linebacker/grad transfer

I may be wrong on this, but I "think" I remember seeing something similar regarding Brewster's recruitment, or lack thereof, of JJ Watts.

Big Ten has Canceled All Athletics for Rest of School Year

Yes it did. I only know this because I recorded it in its condensed version.

Shama: There might not be a more frequent supporter of various Gopher sports than retired U athletic director Joel Maturi

Like it or not, AD's are judged by their coaching hires and the number of championship banners they hang, especially in the "major sports". How else would you prefer to judge an AD??? IMHO you can't go 10 years without even a sniff of a conference championship in either football or basketball...

Shama: There might not be a more frequent supporter of various Gopher sports than retired U athletic director Joel Maturi

I can remember a talk I had with Joel at a Football event in the old practice facility at Bierman. I had strolled through the entrance to the football complex and here is one for the record books: they had a large picture of the Gopher football team from the '62 Rose Bowl game against UCLA...

    I still support Pitino.

He may be a great guy but that and a buck and a half will get you a cup of coffee. I don't know how he runs his practices as I've never attended but his teams are underachievers. After 7 years, we should be seeing more. AND he needs to get some Minnesota recruits to stay home. He doesn't...

    Predictions for last 7 games...

We now know the Iowa game was a Big "L" so here goes: Iowa - L Indiana - W @NW - W Maryland - L @Wisky - L @Indiana - L Nebraska - W 3 and 4 over the final 7, no big dance, maybe the NIT and hopefully Ricky is gone! His recruiting, or lack thereof, is catching up to him. I give him credit...

    Vintage Gopher stuff

I have the same picture and most of the magazine feature on the Gophers. It was part of my 6th grade "Minnesota Scrapbook" I submitted as a project. It is pretty tattered and torn but I still look at it once in a while.

    2020 Season ticket renewals?

I am renewing my 2. We've had season tickets since 1972, minus the 4 years (1980 to 1984) that we lived in Chicago. We love tailgating in the Ski U Mah Lot and Fall Saturday's just wouldn't be the same without actually going to the games. Wouldn't miss it.

    Honest question

A long time ago....take 1967 for example...we tied for the Championship with Purdue and Indiana. Purdue could not go because the BIG10 had a "no-repeat" rule, meaning you could not go 2 years in a row. BTW, this rule was NOT in effect in 1962 when the Gophers went for the second consecutive...
