    2025 Transfer Portal Watch

Somehow the contracts that must inevitably enter this have address the sandbagging temptation. Workers comp has an elaborate system for determining how much and what kind of work someone coming off injury can do. Should be possible to replicate in the pay for play era.

    Transfer Portal 2025

Any player who demands a starting position without having to compete for it isn’t one who’s in it to win. Give me the one who is confident enough she can earn it and be part of a winning team before one who demands something that wasn’t earned on the court. This program needs players who want to...

Six games? Another injury? Would have two years left. I’ll fear Washington since that’s where his previous coach is now, I think.

    Evans commits to North Carolina

Me as well but that was waaay more than ten years ago.

I also like that they seem to fit a pattern of player that Niko has succeeded with previously. He’s not going what every player he wants, but hopefully he gets players who fit.

    Evans commits to North Carolina

Sorry to insult your profession, Bob. But I’m predicting that some of the same lawyers/agents collecting commissions on pay for play will turn around and sue universities five to ten years down the line because their clients are out of money and the schools didn’t give them an education. It’s a...

But there is no cheating anymore so that variable is no longer a factor.

Two shooters, including one who is an excellent point guard, and a versatile and reliable big are necessary for this team to be competitive next season. The other three can be role players or developmental players.

    Evans commits to North Carolina

No matter what his role is, he will make an agent a really nice commission. He’s a classic example of a player who needs to cash in now because the likelihood of a big payday in the pros is low. Payne, Hawkins and Garcia are similar.

    Evans commits to North Carolina

Anyone who would choose to wear light blue uniforms without being paid a lot of money has some serious questions to answer. 🤔

SJSU center Robert Vaihola commits to Gophers!!

I’m wondering how many of our young confreres know who Oliver is. I’d take a version of him anytime. Always like a skilled wide body.

    Niko’s roster construction

The money factor I think reduces the importance of the other factors. That vaults to the top of the list.

Shooter: Gophers' NIL budget this season —lowest in the Big Ten — was in the $700,000 range, of which Dawson Garcia got $500,000.

If the program gets upgraded and players become well known, there will be businesses that can make a rational decision to hire players to pitch their products. It won’t happen if they are asking people to pony up real NIL without any assurances it’s going to benefit their business.

A 90-year-old super fan Louise Quam shares her love for the Golden Gophers

Vintage. A 20 year lapel pin would cost them $8 and $1.10 in postage. What is the matter with these people? I admit that I’ve been waiting at least a decade for some kind note thanking me for 30 plus years of loyalty especially through some really awful years. Alas, it’s not coming.

    Niko’s roster construction

It has to be awkward for both the coaches and the players when one assistant stays. Normal people would experience some twinge of guilt poaching guys from a former assistant. I'm not sure who is in the portal from CSU other than Evans, which is the one I would really like to see come here. The...

    Niko’s roster construction

Coming off injury, I’m not presuming too much from Omot.
