    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

Hopefully that new coach can change minds and bring this program back. I'm confident it can happen. The hire is just so important. Invest in a coach and give him/her resources. This program can be solid!

Besides the Gophers who do you cheer for?

Utah, Colorado St. and San Diego State All MN guys coaching those squads. Supporting MN.

A qualifying list of potential replacements

I'd put him at the top of the list. I think gets that Iowa job in the next couple years when Fran bails.

A qualifying list of potential replacements

Will Wade? Guy can coach no doubt, but we aren't touching him I wouldn't imagine.

A qualifying list of potential replacements

True with the connection. Richey has taken 'em a little further there. Got the NCAA W last year.

A qualifying list of potential replacements

I'd imagine Medved is the most likely replacement. He's not a home run, but he's solid IMO. I like Richey a lot from Furman but his background really looks like a Southeast guy. Can't imagine this would be the job he moves for. Dutcher would still be the home run, even at age 65.

    Fire Ben Johnson

I agree. I think it would be one of the other assistants currently on staff.

Shama: If there is a change in Golden Gophers basketball head coaches after this season, St. Thomas’ John Tauer should be a level one candidate.

Tauer can flat out coach. Maybe folks want a splashier name, but this guy would be solid. But yes, still unlikely on both sides.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT INDIANA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

No idea what'll happen tonight. Indiana runs a similar offense to us which is really nothing. No system. They just have better talent.

What is an acceptable expectation for a Gopher Men’s Basketball Head Coach?

I may be overly optimistic, but don't you think a winning season or two where we just make the tournament would significantly help our NIL? I feel like there's NIL to be had, we have just been so atrocious under Ben during the NIL era that donors have zero interest in investing in the program...

What is an acceptable expectation for a Gopher Men’s Basketball Head Coach?

I say NCAA tournament 4 out of 5 years. Sweet 16 1 out of those 4 years. Get the right guy in here and everything changes. Set the bar high.

If you were Asuma...what would you do?

I actually think he'll stay either way. Brother committed here for baseball. Seems like they just like the location close to home. Never know though.

    How low?

It's unwatchable. Cut the ties ASAP so we can build anticipation over a new hire. Only going to get worse with Johnson coaching throughout the year.

Gophs 155 in the first NET Rankings: Check out the bunch we're clumped with. This is brutal man.

Best time to send Ben packing?

That'd be a nice bonus. Tough year for Medved so far. Is it time to fade that train?

Best time to send Ben packing?

I'd like to see us let him go based on what others have said about maybe providing a spark to the team and then knowing the administration doesn't put up with this bad of play and then 100% starts the next search (Which I'm sure is already happening either way). But it likely won't happen...

Best time to send Ben packing?

100% - Let the guy finish the year out. Coyle will I'd imagine.

Best time to send Ben packing?

He'll coach through the rest of the year. If he gets a 5th year I refuse to watch the team next year.
