    2025-26 Team

If I had to guess today, I would say only Asuma returns from existing scholarship players, and maybe two of the three incoming recruits still end up at the U.

    Where will Ben land?

I will take a stab in the dark and say Murray State.

    Fire Ben Johnson

One upside for the committee is they don't have to worry about playing favorites with a fellow committee member and giving them a birth with where Gopher basketball has been.

I thought on halftime of radio broadcast the deputy AD (can't remember her name) said Coyle was not allowed to be at the game today (per selection committee rules).

Just saw article stating Richard Pitino is a leading candidate for that job.

ESPN's Jeff Borzello: "As of time of publish, it seems Ben Johnson is likely to get another year at Minnesota."

I really don't see how Johnson can be retained unless Coyle truly thinks he is an adequate coach and the overwhelming issue is a lack of NIL dollars...and is convinced allocating a significant percentage of revenue sharing dollars (20-25%) will make an immediate impact. 🤷‍♂️

Describe the Gophers 24-25 season in 1 sentence

The Gopher 2024-25 basketball season was one that had a few bright spots - including Garcia's game-winning heave against Michigan, Rigsby's late three to win in Lincoln, and come-from-behind wins in Los Angeles - in what was otherwise yet another losing and largely forgettable season.

ESPN's Jeff Borzello: "As of time of publish, it seems Ben Johnson is likely to get another year at Minnesota."

I agree with your comment but do have one question on the scholarships: My understanding is the settlement opt-in schools will have a scholarship/roster limit of 15 next year. Assuming we utilize them, we would have 8 available (assuming the seven returnees/incoming recruits mentioned). Is it...

Gophers get a 10-6 win as both bullpens settle in. Not sure I can remember a game where the teams combined to score 16 runs in the first four innings, and then all zeroes after that. Rooney was solid in relief. It got interesting in 9th with the tying run at the plate with 1 out, but...

On Saturday night, I also noticed after Spanier grounded out to end the game, Purdue players from bench were going out to the infield to celebrate, and as Spanier was just walking back to Gopher's side and just tried to walk through the stream of players, some Purdue player stopped and got into...

There were several 'Why are we underachievers - we stink' questions on that post. Here is what the guy replied with on roster talent evaluation: Measuring roster talent can be a bit complicated, but my calculation uses a combination of the current BPR values for the players on the roster at...

Honorable mention to Elbeery as well, with some clutch hits. Agree on Purdue...they seem like a team that has scheduled soft to start season and rack up wins, but they certainly played well this weekend. Big two-gamer with Kansas. Will be interesting to see what they do on mound. Weather...

    Gopher Softball 2025

Gophers split, with a run in bottom of 9th to win 1-0 over South Alabama (Schwartz with the complete game shutout), and then routed 10-0 in 5 by Louisiana State. Rough day at plate, with 4 hits and 17 strikeouts combined between the two games.

Poll: Should Mark Coyle give Ben Johnson a 5th year?

I voted No, based both on what the four years have been, and a high likelihood we will be in similar position at this time next year.
