Daniel Jackson Pop Tarts Play of the Week

Considering they're certainly recruiting plenty of U of M alumni to work there, it seems it would behoove them to do something like this. I know plenty of local companies recruit/do career fairs, etc. at the U, but it is quite remarkable how agnostic most of these companies are towards the U...

College football ‘Super League’ details unveiled, would be called ‘College Student Football League’

Honestly, this makes way more sense than the garbage that is happening now. However, as others have stated, why would B1G and SEC schools give up power to the likes of the BYU's, Cincinnati's, UCF's, etc. of the world? It's gotten ridiculous with transfers, NIL, etc., but I'm willing to bet the...

All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Twins Off-Season Thread

I'm not entirely sure they're necessarily separate issues. You for sure have a point. However, the comments in the offseason by ownership coupled with the lack of moves at the deadline really had an affect on fan outlook and morale. I can't imagine that players aren't affected by this as well...

All Things Minnesota at UCLA at Rose Bowl Stadium October 12, 2024

Ugg...I'm sure I'm in the minority, but man, that's late. My 9 and 7 year old will be fine, but that's pretty late for my 5 year old, as the game will get done around 11:30pm central time. Also means the entire next day they'll all be really squirrely as whenever happens when they stay up really...

All Things 2024-25 Vikings Regular Season Thread

I thought this team was a 7-win club, and they’re currently sitting at 4. Glad I was wrong.

All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Twins Off-Season Thread

This is downright depressing. He did nothing to acquire such a beloved entity, and thus he has no emotion in wanting it to succeed. He’s just going to milk it for everything it’s worth. Sigh.

All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Twins Off-Season Thread

So what’s the over/under on the Twins doing something smart with broadcast rights this offseason?

    Injuries

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw it. If that’s the case, it’s really too bad. When Mav went down last year, the drop off at LB after him was stark. Really need Walley and Robinson against USC.

    Daniel Jackson

Pretty sure the 40 he’ll run will be too slow to get drafted before the late rounds. The NFL is all about measurables. But IMO if he finds the right fit, he can have a good career as a slot receiver that you look to on 3rd downs to move the chains. DJ is so much more than his measurables would...

    Tropical Vacation Destination Ideas

Yes. They require you to have “damage waiver insurance”, but if you have proof your credit card covers it (many do), you don’t need it from the rental agency, which will save a good amount of money. We went to 4 different places, so we really needed a car. Suzuki Jimny FTW!

I would third Costa Rica. Since the 90's, they've been teaching every student English, so the only ones who don't speak English are the old timers and immigrants (they have a lot from Columbia, Venezuela, etc, and have a very similar visceral pro/con with them as Americans do with Mexicans and...

Long Beach. Bit of a hike to Rose Bowl, but close to Disney and beach.

    Uniforms for Iowa

I have a game used white helmet from the Brewster era. Thought it was a ridiculous way to to spend money back when I didn’t have much. It has always been proudly displayed in my house and was worth every penny.

Badger QB Out for the Season with ACL.

Well recruited kid that transferred to Wisky after a year of not seeing the field his freshman year at Miss St. Looks like he had 700+ yards last year, so he’s seen some action.

    Fantasy Sports Talk

Since starters really stopped playing in preseason a handful of years ago, the difference between week 1 and week 3 is often stark. Between the play of starters and penalties, week 1/2 in the NFL is almost unwatchable. It’s never going to happen, but it sure would be nice to mandate some level...

New jerseys on Saturday vs RI

To my knowledge, they've never sold "authentic" jerseys, just the replicas. You can get personalized jerseys with a specific player name/number, but it looks like they're still the previous style jerseys on Fanatics...

Do the Twins make/miss the playoffs?

Also going by Forbes (which I'm hugely skeptical is anywhere near reality, but it's what we got) - the Twins have a $114MM surplus over the past 10 years, including the massive $49MM loss from COVID...

Do the Twins make/miss the playoffs?

I posted this long, long ago, but because of revenue sharing on local TV deals, the Twins are effectively "sharing" their loss with the rest of the MLB, and their own immediate loss is less. My math says they lost around $8MM in TV revenue as a worst-case scenario in 2024...

future of revenue-sharing in doubt - House anti-trust case could still go to trial

It's largely a G4 issue (and some of those athletic departments don't even break even). So you likely have 68 schools that make money or break even (those with G4 football) and 66 that likely don't. Then you add in FCS with 129 teams, I'm sure all of which lose money. How many run a surplus...
