***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT ILLINOIS IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Apparently Pat Bryant cleared concussion protocol. Edit: guess I’m slow as it looks like this was announced yesterday.

I also really dislike the white M on maroon helmet.

Well, on the plus side I don’t think there are any truly great teams in the NFL this year. Just get to the playoffs and you have a legit shot.

All Things 2024-25 Vikings Regular Season Thread

A lot of times you can look back at a draft and gone coulda/woulda/shoulda. Justin Jefferson was the 5th WR drafted in 2020 for example. That one, the Vikes just got lucky. My big problem with the Cine pick is it was the classic Spielman “act like you’re the smartest guy in the room” bit, even...

    The number of flags in NFL games is getting annoying. 2024: 13.04 penalties/game 2023: 11.34 penalties/game 2022: 11.1 penalties/game 2021: 11.72 penalties/game 2020: 11.1 penalties/game

4 of their 5 starting OL were drafted by the Lions, 3 of them first rounders, with one drafted in the third round. With Zeitler being the lone free agent. I completely agree with you on Campbell. I think they're winning in spite of him, and not because of him. Their GM has assembled a very good...

UVA Tony Bennett to announce his immediate retirement in a press conference on Friday at 11 a.m.

Assuming this is not health related, count me in the group that thinks this is a major dick move. This is much worse than a player quitting mid season. A player is only one of 13 on the roster. A coach is the coach, GM, and leader. You’re not only leaving the team you recruited high and dry...

Big Ten quarterbacks ranked by Total QBR after Week 7 of 2024 season (12. Max Brosmer (Minnesota))

If Geers catches the ball that hit him right in the hands on the first drive of the UCLA game on the absolute dime thrown by Brosmer, I think the tone of that game changes. But they started out losing the field position battle and let UCLA get some confidence. Brosmer's OL hasn't done him too...

    The Band Pit

This is the correct answer. They were trying to do something special and highlight the band with their own dedicated area right at field level, something that is not common. Of course, then everybody shits all over it if it's not perfect. The easy answer is to do exactly as you describe; blow up...

    Curt Cignetti’s Contract

At first I thought he'd be a low flight risk, given his age. However, you could flip that and say if a big dog comes calling, he only has a few years to cash in and get big $$ before he retires.

    "Simulating brandishing a weapon" penalty

Didn’t notice that live at the game. Rewatching after I got home I’m yelling at the TV at 1am “why wasn’t that a penalty!?!” I also found it odd all the TV relays cut away right as the USC player is doing that with no mention of it on the broadcast. Not that it mattered, but it was a sore loser...

    How's Koi doing?

I’d be interested in seeing the official snap counts from today. Instead of being limited to the dime package, he got a ton of play today. I looked at the safeties most plays, and by my count he was back there 70%+ of snaps.

    "Simulating brandishing a weapon" penalty

The Drake London one was way different. He acted like he was holding an automatic rifle and was firing it into the air. Apples and oranges. Apparently I’m out of the loop. I would have never guessed what Walley did was “brandishing a weapon”. What about all the cornerbacks that pretend to put...

It really looked like their incompetence on their second-to-last drive was going to sink their chances. Props to Kirk for coming back on their last drive to tie it. Bucky Irving coughing up the ball (although it was more of a good defensive play than a bad play by him) put Atlanta back in it.

Gopher offensive line: what the stats say

Brosmer has definitely shown "happy feet" and has overreacted to pressure numerous times. However, considering his first taste of P5 football was the UNC game where he was getting no time, it's not a huge surprise. Brosmer isn't faultless, but IMO, it's about 90% on the OL. If the OL played this...
