My concern is at least two years old now. The top recruit in the state (and one of the top in the country) choosing Pitt just confirms it is warranted.

This program continues to head in the wrong direction, but it seems to be gathering speed.
 

Yes we lost the top in state recruit this year, but did get #1 the last three years. Solid Sophomore base of players get a solid 2029 class and fill in a couple portal players and we will be fine

If by "fine" you mean shot at the round of 16, then sure.

I stand by my comment. (And the top MN recruits we signed were not top recruits in the country. Great to get them, don't get me wrong, but it's not enough.)
 

Lose out on the top two again this year. Didn't look like we were even in the running for either. What is going on?
 


Let's face it...Hugh's departure was bigger than we at first thought. We then went through the transfer out and in and a RECENT SOLID TOP RECRUIT decommit in Larkin.

This program has seen it's share of Assistant Coaches and, unfortunately, we lost out on the recruiting after KK left....let's be honest people. This is where I feel the wheels started falling off a little.

Next we topped it off with injuries of 3 starters (will they come back the same or stronger) and a #1 OH's career been hampered with injuries etc and so here we are. IMO this opened the door for more recruits questioning should I commit to Minnesota or not (if they were ever being recruited in the first place). Again, IMO we are coming off a very non stable year.

HERE'S HOPING THE 2025 RECRUITING CLASS can get us back to our former glory. The Top 16 finish last season was very promising for this program. However, we need more of that or better.

Lastly, I am hoping these future verbally committed recruits will still come here....but I am also seriously wondering how long the actual building of this program back to the Top Ten is going to take.

Granted I feel like this applied slightly less on girls side than boys, but I'm guessing it still largely applies.

Some kids simply don't want to go to college in the backyard of where they grew up in. They want to go somewhere else and give that a try.


She could go there, do it for a year, and then get homesick. Transfer, boom.

In 2028 (I assume that's her first college season), just looking at the roster quick it looks like she'd be battling Taylor as a 4th year senior and Hoecke as a 3rd year Junior.

Guessing she did the math and perhaps Pitt is an easier option to play right away as a true freshman.
 

We made the Sweet 16 with how many freshman?? Now they'll be a year better.

Good lord there are some whiny ass people on this board

Your idea seems agreeable on paper ... but in practice I heartily disagree.

The whinny asses need to log off.

You can love the whiny asses or hate them. Your choice. I'm pretty positive about the program and the direction it's headed myself. That said, the whiny asses on this board are pretty much all season ticket holders and most have been for a long time. They care deeply enough about the program to think and post about it during the off-season. While I don't agree with a lot of the negativity I respect their right to feel that way. Maybe I'll be wrong and they'll turn out to be right. Time will tell. Either way don't let it get you down. Keep posting your thoughts and perspective. I, for one, will enjoy reading it.
 

Being even a long time season ticket holder doesn't earn you the right to be a dink
 

I didn’t think I was being whiny, I was genuinely asking a question. I follow the team but not as closely as I do Men’s and Women’s B Ball. I was genuinely curious since we had just had a great run in NCAAs why we lost out on the in state recruiting battle and if this was a two year blip or if we were in trouble.
 




And, again, if the occasional round of 16 appearance is good enough for you -- and there's nothing wrong if it is -- that's great. Doesn't mean we can't miss the days when this was an elite program, a top 8 program. It's probably an unreasonable expectation in today's sports environment. I'm not even sure it's a laudable goal. Do we really want to have the priorities (or ethics for that matter) of Wisconsin? Penn State? Pitt?
 

Have a little hope Ruffda. 3 years ago nobody would have had Texas A & M as a top 8 program. What about Arizona State? Penn State was down for a while and would not have been. Five years ago everyone had Stanford in their top 5 programs. Based on recent performance they're not anymore. Things can change. I'm looking forward to a great year for our Gophers. Take the team that ended up in the round of 16. We lost Hanson, ouch, and Lourdes, not so ouch. Assuming good recoveries we add Wookie, Acevedo, Palabiyak, plus a big time transfer middle and Hoeke. Add to that the expected development of last year's freshman class. This should be a top 10 team.
