Gopher Hockey Recruiting

I’ll say if Larson is planning on having 80-90% Minnesotans on the roster like he said then that’s not a great start lol. Have to get Schneider.
Agreed 100%. And I’m perfectly fine if we’re not going with that ratio, but if you are you have to get the ones that are projected 1st round picks

Stings more that it was just down to us and them.

It seems he’ll definitely need to find big talent elsewhere in that class.

Completely meh consolation prize. UND doesn't take too many cake eaters so sure the Gophers will get him.

If you're gonna lose Fitzhenry, you have to get Willis.
Willis will definitely be a priority but I was just talking about the Minnesotans. I wouldn’t use meh to describe the potential for Schneider but yes Fitzhenry was the top one you needed to get.

The 2nd tier Minnesota kids are less interesting now with CHL opened up. You have to get the top guys.

First Minnesota recruiting test: failed

I mean Schneider is still seen as one of the top forwards in the age group for US. Most u17s don’t light it up first year.

But yes losing Fitz was a recruiting failure.

would have to have @arcticpurple weigh in, but I don't think this is a "dollars" so much as development decision and where he feels comfortable based on everything I've read about him. Otherwise Smith, Larson knowing Dupont's dad, etc. wouldn't really even be a factor. Have to be in the ballpark, but the kid is going to (and already) making big money on endorsements.
All I know is that he’s aware Minnesota will have roster space for him and won’t be throwing money at him like some other programs. His decision will be based on development opportunities, and Minnesota fits that mold. So I wouldn’t rule out the Gophers. I also wouldn’t rule out a return to Everett. My hunch is nothing will be decided until after the CHL import draft. It seems as though Everett has its eyes on someone who could help keep DuPont in Everett.

But people will ride the "we were in the mix!" wave for a year I'm sure

Marketing team coming up with strategies on how to sell more season tickets by promoting the away players coming in to Mariucci

I have yet to see him announce or any Michigan offering, just random national guys but not the usual suspects. Kind of weird

He made it official this evening. Hopefully Smith rolls him 4x this year 😅

Will be curious if we see more of the choppiness getting worse we saw last year with more chl players as it felt like misconducts were quite high last year. Imagine there will be some added intensity for a lot of these guys who saw an awful lot of each other on various stages
