I was two days late in doing my re-watch--just too busy, but it corresponded with the last day of school where I'm at, so it did align pretty nicely as I pounded 1 Budweiser tall boy (my personal moon tower party these days). Some observations:
* First time observation--when the conversation is happening in the girls bathroom regarding Ginger/Mary Ann, the graffiti on the paper towel dispenser states that "Judy K is trash" with the arrow pointing down to the receptacle. Brilliant burn using the physical environment available.
* Low key humorous moments that I enjoy every time: during the Clint/Mike fight, the guy who's trying to light his cigarette/joint while being jostled around; in the background of Slater's screed about George & Martha Washington, the dude who passes out, has a crowd gather around, and then just disperse without any assistance always cracks me up.
* I think I'm coming around to the idea that this side of Pink, Cynthia (red perm, object of Wooderson's affection) would be the best hang in the movie. Smart, solid conversationalist, drama free attitude, good friend (takes care of Mike's bruises, sets Tony up nicely with Sabrina). I used to be distracted and take points off for the perm, but she's really cute, it's understandable why Wooderson zeroes in on her.
* I still abhor Carl, O'Bannion is O'Bannion, but the true villain of the movie is Darla (Parker Posey). Her attempted bullying of Sabrina at the Moon Tower in front of Tony gives her the title, running away with it actually. My hope for Sabrina is that she was too wasted to remember her threat of making freshman year absolutely miserable, as promised. I do like this line of hers though: wipe that face off your head, bitch. It's popped through my mind more than a few times over the years.
Another favorite line:
Little brother, is that a beer in your hand?
Why, yes it is.
