As the conference keeps getting worse it might be harder for the Boston schools to get kids to come there if they want to play in a competitive conference. Should be interesting to see how everything looks 5 years from now.

think as long as they're consistently in the FF and in the upper echelon of the PWR, much ado about nothing. BC just unloaded 2 extremely good teams and BU had the most draft picks on a team ever.

think the question more is if that middle tier can keep up with fielding decent teams or if its going to turn into the ECAC where QU just runs show there. Know 2026 was a down tourney, but they had BU in the FF and BC, Uconn, and Umass all won 1st round games in 2025. Not to mention they all are benefitting from the expanded CHL access. UMass did really well this year in the portal and recruiting.

True about UMass, they have a great recruiting class coming in. 2026 was the first year that this landscape was truly different though, so we’ll see how it transpires out there
 

Some updated Twitter activity regarding the Rucks and that expected to go the college route

It makes me laugh a little at how much stuff is generated for clicks regarding their (as well as other guys like Dupont) potential destinations, particularly given how many places are now full.

Like UND is full aside from their 3rd goalie, but has Dupont and both Rucks listed. I get many places may try "make room" for guys, but amazing to me how little there is on the subject comparatively with football and basketball recruiting for the star players
 



rumblings the NTDP is about to have multiple players leave. Meyer is the one that appears most "confirmed" so far. supposedly as many as 6 other names have been mentioned, though i'd be surprised if its that many
 



Just don't sit around hoping for him and end up without him and without any centers.

With the NCAA stuff going on, there must be some solid 2006s and even 07s looking to get on campus ASAP now

I have to imagine his price was already premium and now it’s about fit and development. He will make drastically more money in the NHL. Just have to be the right place to dev him for presumably one year

Unfortunately, my contact has gone silent during the Memorial Cup. The boys don't want to talk about anything other than the next game. Can't blame them. It seems to be working. A month ago, I would have said no chance but I don't think that's the case any longer.

Good for them and we’ve got the best 2 teams squaring off. Should be a great game
 



Wheeler says about Minnesota: “sounds like they have money to spend” in his article. Michigan is the front runner but it’s hard not to look at all the different connections with him to Minnesota and not say we have a decent shot if we can fork up enough money, don’t think we’d have to necessarily be the top cash offer.

Ya cuz our money left to spend is a part of what the big guns can spend. There aren't big budget players on the roster (or if there are, they're overpaid). So for one given player, I could see how we'll be close with MSU/UM/PSU.

I mean it’s known Ziemer and Mooney got huge offers from those schools. Ziemer is a preseason hobey candidate. I’d expect they are getting big pay and both will probably have big seasons.

We may not have as much as those 3 schools but we can’t act like we’re helpless with money because of one awfully mismanaged season. We coughed up a lot of money to keep Snuggerud from going pro and the 24-25 roster was expensive. I’d expect we’re right behind those 3 on any given year. If we’re not able to win, money isn’t the issue.
 

As a side note, if we could get that Golden Helmet collective up and running I think that would go a long way too. More average Gopher hockey fans would donate than any of those other schools.

You should know better, Pat also said “zero chance” we fire Motzko less than a week before we did it. His finger is not enough on the pulse for someone who only speaks in absolutes. The source who told me Motzko was being fired said Pat was trying to tell him they are keeping him up to the day before it happened too.

The race for Dupont is not over.

Think Pat hears the dollar amounts and assumes we would not play in excess money pools, but clearly dupont is weighing more than that or he’d have signed with Michigan already
 

I mean odds are he can throw this stuff out and end up getting no shit from people since it’s been known that Michigan is the favorite. But it’s pretty funny he just keeps throwing out what he thinks will happen as fact on social media after he has had stuff wrong before doing that.
 


Conboy to play with Green Bay Gamblers again next year. Was some speculation he could be a fill in grab if multiple guys leave the NTDP as has been rumored.
