All Things 2026 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Rojas to the 15 day IL and Lawyerson has been activated after his rehab stint in St. Paul

My immediate thought is that they would never, ever agree to a cap on the top end. It also makes me wonder how they would police the chicanery of deferred salaries, such as what the Dodgers are currently doing (If memory serves).
No cap benefits the tiny % who make $25 million +. A floor benefits the 95% who don't. It shouldn't be a close vote.

The deferred salaries cannot be allowed if there's a cap and shouldn't be anyway.

The problem is if half of the 95% think they will eventually in the Top 5%, they will be misguided and vote against what is really in their best interest.

Pittsburgh is the only city where all the major teams wear the same colors; Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. - very cool 😎

Falvey's spending $14 million on Bell and Caratini instead of the bullpen has cost us at least 4 wins.

Aaron Gleeman posted this the other day Boxscore, a daily email newsletter from a guy named Jeff Blankenburg that provides the standings, league leaders, all the box scores and the following day’s pitching matchups. As Gleeman stated, it’s reminiscent of reading the sports section of our youth and I can certainly agree. Two days in, I am a big fan.

Lacking depth and big arms to begin with, we're seeing what happens with 17 straight games and a short bullpen and a few guys who's innings they are minimizing. I dont trust Ober, Mathews or Prielep, and Bradley is only good for about 5 innings for another start or 2. Joe is the only reliable and dependable starter. Need a healthy Abel back and some 6 or 7 inning starts. Don't see it happening for a while.

Twins designate Woods Richardson, recall Klein from Triple-A

PITTSBURGH – In eight weeks, Simeon Woods Richardson went from solidly in the Twins rotation to off the roster entirely.

The right-hander was designated for assignment on Saturday, meaning Minnesota has seven days to trade Woods Richardson or place him on outright or release waivers. He was out of options, so the only way the Twins could remove him from the active roster was to remove him from the 40-man roster as well.

The Twins recalled rookie John Klein to take Woods Richardson’s roster spot. Klein is a hard thrower who has made two appearances in the Major Leagues this year. He is rated Minnesota's 19th-best prospect, per MLB Pipeline.

The move caps a rapid and jarring fall for Woods Richardson, who was one of the winners of a competition for the final two spots in the rotation in Spring Training and began the season with two strong starts. But he suffered an illness prior to a start in Toronto, allowing five runs in four innings, and that outing started a slump from which he never emerged.

Over a run of seven starts beginning with that game in Toronto, Woods Richardson was reached for 33 earned runs in 30 1/3 innings and walked more batters than he struck out. He was moved to the bullpen, where he had a couple of decent outings, but he struggled again in a spot start on Thursday and was let go Saturday.

“It’s a challenging conversation, number one, because of how you feel about the human being and the person,” said manager Derek Shelton. “That was challenging. Essentially, what it comes down to is we need arms and we need length, and Sim wasn’t available. Unfortunately, in certain situations, that’s why you have to make moves.”

Brutal schedule and hopefully won’t gap again or only one more time.

Gotta weather the storm and steal this one with a comeback win today, 7-7 now, and go .500 on the road and then go get some home cooking.

I dont trust Ober, Mathews or Prielep,
Zebby’s first three starts have all been quality, 6 innings or more with 3 or less earned runs. 2,37 ERA & 0.84 WHP.

Ober’s got 75 Pitches through 4, hopefully a quick/clean 5th, and he can get through 6.

The bottom of our respectable first third if the season, seems to be going up in smoke quickly

Twins place Ober on injured list with right elbow inflammation

Hopefully Abel can return soon.

Brooks Lee bolstered by his performance last night raised his Career WAR to -0.5. At +0.5 for 2026.

Even though the Twins were routed by the Bucs yesterday, Brooks Lee's 2 HR lifted the Career WAR up to -0.3.

Here’s an injury update, per Hayes’ column -

After arriving home, the Twins finally received some good news in the form of injury updates:

• Rojas is feeling “markedly better,” Zoll said, and was scheduled to meet with team doctors Monday night. If he’s cleared, Rojas could start throwing Tuesday or Wednesday, which would potentially result in a quick ramp-up and return to the mound.

• Injured starter Mick Abel (right elbow inflammation) is scheduled for a light bullpen on Tuesday and will pitch in a two-inning live batting practice on Thursday.

“He’s been feeling good in all of his checkpoints recently,” Zoll said.

• Following a three-week shutdown for a stem cell injection, David Festa (right shoulder impingement) started a throwing program Monday. Festa will play catch for three weeks before returning to the mound, Zoll said.

• On the farm, Zoll said Triple-A outfielders Walker Jenkins (left shoulder sprain) and Alan Roden (torn labrum) both could start rehab assignments next week

Good. They should have started this long ago. 1B Keashall, 2B Lee, 3B Lewis, SS Culpepper.

They may have wanted by wait for the following regarding Keaschell’s bad start-

Give home time to get his hitting squared away first.
.283 last 30, .288 last 15 and .320 last 7. They talked on the radio broadcast about some adjustments he’s made.

Culpepper’saverage was in the .240s for a while, so he probably needed to with on making better contact - he’s now at .256

I also don’t think it’s a slam dunk Lewis comes up right away

If a team is at least in the .500 range, through the All Star break then there is also hope to be in the Post Season. It took 88 Ws (Guards) to win the AL Central (Tigers) and 87 Ws to make the Wild Card.

As a show of good faith, since I implored the Twins to lower the price of suds I pledge to go to 6 games in 2026. That's double what I did in 2025.

Due to crappy weather more than anything, I am behind pace.

G1 tonight vs the White Sox
