PJ and staff have done an excellent job at recruiting the state's 2027 prospects, getting commits from the #1, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 players in the state. Does anyone have any insight as to our chances at the #2 and #3 players, Nehemiah Ombati and Clarence Johnson Jr., both currently uncommitted? I find it interesting that, per 247, we haven't offered Johnson and, in both cases, we appear to be being outrecruited by some pretty meh programs--Boston College, Michigan State, Kansas, Georgia Tech, Northwestern...

Don’t know much about it but for some kids it’s who’s offering the most money. Others … who is offering best chance to play right away.

Not a good fit for PJ. He says that all the time. Players could be selfish, looking for a big bag of cash, not willing to do community service that he requires.

Another thing is you simply can’t take too many freshmen at same positions

Hard to call it getting out recruited on Johnson if we aren’t offering him.

Per btowngopher If we don't offer a kid a scholarship he must not be good. It couldn't be that we were late, wrong, or not present in his recruitment. I could list some guys but haters gonna hate

IMO, if you're wrong on a kid and you don't sign him, that isn't being out-recruited, it's being out-evaluated.

Ombati cancelled his OV and is set to visit Michigan St, Nebraska, and Mizzou

Apparently he had built a relationship with Dennis Dottin-Carter and wasn’t happy when PJ let him go.

To actually answer your question. It seems highly unlikely we get either Ombati or Johnson Jr. Neither visiting during summer splash, Ombati seems down to Mizzou, Nebraska or Michigan State and Johnson Jr. is Mizzou, Kansass, Georgia Tech or Northwestern unless someone comes in late for either.

Where did I say that the player must not be good? I said it’s weird to call it getting out recruited when if we aren’t offering a kid a scholarship then we probably aren’t recruiting him that hard.

After hearing coaches share their NIL recruiting experiences, I'd bet it's almost entirely due to PJ not agreeing on their initial salary request. Simple as that. Lane Kiffin said recruiting has basically boiled down to the kid, parents, agents, etc walk into the coaches' office and if they don't like the salary offer it's onto the next school.

I'm being a bit hyperbolic here but I wouldn't be surprised whatsoever.

Some kids also may just want to move away from home. Reality is we are not going to sign the entire top ten.

How in the world did you come to that conclusion??? Seems like you're just butt-hurt because someone had a critical comment about your post.

I don’t think that’s too unrealistic, wouldn’t surprise me either.

Makes sense. Thanks! Didn't realize that Dottin-Carter was once on our staff.
