Who is your "I wish we played them every year," opponent for the Gophers?

The B1G made up a rivalry game between PSU and UMN. Were there any other rivalry games made up after that expansion?
I think there were for Nebraska.

Official trophy games appear to exist for their matchups with Iowa and Wisconsin. Interesting the Neb-Wisc did not make it on the protected list.

Fans made up a "trophy" for Neb Minn, though it has never been recognized as official, but it is a nice fundraising opportunity.

Iowa and Wisc also have a trophy for their series, but only since the early 2000's.

I am torn between Michigan and Nebraska, so let's take them both

No Jug?

I'd pick Michigan just for the Jug to be in play annually. Both teams have obvious bigger rivalries and traditional match-ups, but that historical connection is worth keeping regularly. I'd also be fine with playing Nebraska on a yearly basis, too, but if it had to be only one, make it the Wolverines.

It should be. Most college football fan communities have shown overwhelming support for it. It's certainly more compelling than the other two Nebraska has the Heroes Trophy (Iowa) and the Freedom Trophy (Wisconsin).

Oregon State Beavers.

The annual Rodent Bowl.

Nebraska, among the teams we don't already play every year.

They strike the perfect balance of teams the Gophers are favored to beat, but the general public still expects the Gophers to lose. So we get this little reputational 'upset' bump every October from doing what the team is supposed to do, considering the big advantage in the recent series and also the all-time series.

I also grew up in Southern Nebraska in the peak-Osborne 80s as a Gopher fan and never dreamed I would see the day when the Gophers were consistently better. Satisfying.

Plus it's a full stadium and a good atmosphere and an underrated historic rivalry. I was bummed to see it not be a protected game.

Illinois

We only play them once in the next 4 years.

I've always like the Illinois game for some reason. And now, with Fat Boy at the helm, and just beating them.........we aren't playing them much.

Agree.
Also northwestern and Purdue.

Wisconsin 133
Iowa 118
Michigan 106
Northwestern 99

Purdue 80
Illinois 77

Indiana 69
Nebraska 65

Ohio state 56
Michigan State 50

Iowa state 27

The whole world might be better if Penn state joined the big east or ACC instead of big ten

From your list I was curious about Chicago: 18

I would guess the Gopher game at Wrigley last November was their first in Chicago city limits since 11/30/1918.

From the "New Big 10":

Washington - 17
Penn St - 17
USC - 9
Maryland - 8
Rutgers - 5
Oregon - 5
UCLA - 4
