2026 NHL Playoffs Thread

This hurts me so deeply, to my core.

Okay, maybe not so much

The answer here should always be Chicago Black Hawks OR Dallas Stars.

I don't hate Vegas. Not even a little, expect the fuggly gold unis.

Those things remind me of something a roller derby team would wear in the 70s

I get this take, but honestly I like them a whole lot better than those original steel grays. Yuck. I never liked those. My favorite VGK jersey is their road whites.

Yeah, I dig the whites. Sharp. Don't mind the red alternates either.

WCF Game 1 tonight; No Captain Mark Stone for Vegas; No Cale Makar for Colorado

Love how Denver/Colorado sports teams always want to make a huge deal out of this. 5000 feet really isn't that big of a deal, particularly taking into consideration of where the visiting team is from.

Vegas's practice facility and offices are at roughly 3,500 ft elevation on the west side of the valley in Las Vegas. Look at how the Avs rolled out this major welcome trying to amplify this, especially with a visiting team that has been there many, many times. Oh well...

Vegas up 3-0 in third. Hart stellar in the net

As soon as I type that Avs score to make it 3-1. 14 minutes to go

No disrespect to Makar, he's a great, great player, but DAMN; about 487 mentions of Makar not playing and I don't recall hearing once how VGK's captain Mark Stone wasn't playing.

Oh well...

I’d say he’s been the surprise of the playoffs so far

And Hart continues to increase the level of his play. He was really, really good last night in Game 1.

Not totally related but I found this blurb today about Hart and the Hockey Canada trial and it was incredibly informative, for anyone that cares. It's not a long read, but there was a lot of info in there that I hadn't seen before

Habs all over canes after giving up the 1st 33 seconds in. 4-1 in the first and lucky it’s not worse.

Feels weird to say a pp with 8min left in the first is big but it is

lol and a penalty for checking wipes out the power play chance.

The canes look like a team who hasn’t played in a long while

Exactly how I thought that first 20 would go said no one

Habs a pipe away from making it 5-1 then the Canes head the other way and make it 4-2

3 to go in third and Canes have yet to have a shot on net. 6-2

The sharps may have noticed that during the 2025-26 Regular Season, the Habs went 3-0-0 vs the Canes.

Habs now 7-2 on the road. For the youngest team in the playoffs that is very impressive

Dobes seems like he’s better on the road anecdotally, which can happen for a young goalie. Lot of pressure at home to perform for the crowd

Each team still missing these guys in the lineup for Game 2 tonight.

both significant losses for sure. Makar is a bigger loss than Stone, but still nothing to scoff at for Vegas. I expect Colorado to come out guns blazing the first 10. If Vegas can get through that part, massive chance to put Colorado in a huge hole

Going to see the team most people think is the best team in hockey about as desperate as you can possibly see a hockey team. The 1st period onslaught will be severe.

Agreed, if Vegas can hold up early, their chances are solid but DAMN, I expect Colorado to come out steaming. Hard to bet against them tonight, although Vegas has been good on the road.

yeah you saw in the later 2nd and 3rd in G1, but Vegas' structure (and Hart) held up. Avs really struggle to generate from the back/transition as well without Makar, which is a huge part of their game and really plays to Vegas' keep things outside strategy.

I kind of expect MacKinnon is going to go off tonight, or at bare minimum generate a bunch of chances. should be a good one
