Time to look ahead.......what is your plan?

Connelly has been fantastic here.

The biggest realistic issue I have with our roster construction is that we don't go after PGs but that's a Finch thing. I know I'm in the minority here, but I think Finch is a good coach. I do disagree with him on the amount of minutes we play without a true PG, but that's clearly his style.
I agree. I don’t see a credible argument for even discussing it.

I think some fans here, want to pretend we can perennially be on the cusp, like we were with KAT’s time here.

There is a ton of information to be learned in the playoff crucible. And no team just goes in and is awesome right away. They take their lumps. They learn and they improve over years. I almost like that we got trounced by the Ours instead of some last second shot style loss. Let Jaden and Ant stew on that.

To me Connelly has been a godsend. He doesn’t seem fooled by flash, or empty stats. He seems to understand there is more to the winning than the sum of each individual player’s box score.

I'm watching a totally different series.

Who are you seeing that is going by people. The spurs are going by us at will.

Who is doing that for the wolves?
The Spurs play help defense because Wemby is back there tending goal.

I'll take a bag of $33 million cheetos for randle. Th expensive cheetos are for salary matching purposes

You haven't been a Minnesota sports fan very long if you think moving to the Eastern will do a single thing for the Twolves.

How can you not accept that The. Moment. the Twolves move, the Eastern will suddenly become Larry Byrd Celtics, Jordan Bulls, Lebron Cavs/Heat, etc. etc.

Guaranteed :ROFLMAO:

Nothing but rotisserie fandom but I found these proposed tandem trades interesting:

WAS in: Randle, DDV and Pick #28
MIN in: Anthony Davis

LAC in: Naz Reid and TSJ
MIN in: Darius Garland

C Gobert
PF Davis
SF McDaniels
SG Edwards
PG Garland

The bench could be a real issue even if we re-sign Dosunmu especially considering how injury prone AD and Garland are.

IMHO, I dont see wash doing 1st trade, dont see the wolves doing 2nd

Yuck to the 2nd. First one is intriguing.

I would definitely do the pupu platter one for AD but he supposedly wants a 3-year Max extension which I'd want no part of.

We're pretty desperate here for a legit PG but I share your concerns about Garland, too.

Unless I'm missing something, AD makes $50+ million. Not sure how this deal works.

I liked Garland coming out of college, but he impresses me less with each passing season.

Good point. We would have to add at least another $12M+ to make it legal.

His offensive game is solid but he's a sieve on D and struggles to stay healthy.

Ant reportedly wants the Wolves to target Kyrie albeit the source is questionable.

But maybe....

Matching contracts is tough using Randle, though, since he only makes $33.3M and Kyrie makes $39.5M. MIN would have to aggregate which would hard cap them at the first apron.

But if we overlook Kyrie’s flaws (age, injury, defense, “opinions", etc), his strengths help fill a lot of holes on a Randle-less team. Passing, #2 scorer, 3-point shooting, someone to bring the ball up the court...Kyrie can do all of that if he’s healthy.

C Gobert/Beringer
PF Reid/???
SF McDaniels/Shannon Jr.
SG Edwards/Clark
PG Irving/Ayo

Looks good on paper despite a clear lack of depth at C/PF.

Given the 2 best teams dont really play a traditional PF, i think jaden can play a lot of 4, especially with our wing and guard talent

My only concern with that is Jaden is a terrible rebounder for his size, although he plays a majority of his defense on the perimeter which pulls him away from the basket.

He's not exactly my favorite NBA player but it's tough to come up with another reasonably realistic trade that moves us closer to OKC and SAS.

I think Randle being off the team would be great. Such a big example of addition by subtraction.

I fear that nobody is going to want him. You'll have to trade him for another problem. Durant salary this year goes from $55 to $43 million, which just about lines about to randle and ddv. DDV really grew on me, but he may never play for the wolves again

Randle, DDV for Durant. And we still keep our "core." Durant is another moody player, but he's a perfect counter to Wemby.

Finchy is back per Connelly. Guess not his exact verbiage, but basically said as much
Are there people who think we are better than San Antonio or OKC in terms of talent? If not, how could you be upset about Finch coming back.

Didn’t you forget petulance?

the fear is at some point, which we are nowhere near, that Ant will ask for a trade

What a hot take Doogie. No shit its about satisfying your best player.

This same take of "you need another superstar" is completely dumb.

SA has one star.
OKC has one star.

They have a ton of ancillary contributors all over the lineup and absolutely murder you with depth all over the floor. Everyone thought before Tatum got hurt said the same about the Celtics. Then its OKC is unbeatable for the next forever (ignoring their obvious impending contract situation). Now its the Spurs (despite that Wemby has yet to stay healthy for a full year, including the weird DVT situation, and that system depends on the unicorn)

Make the best team you can. stop trying to build a team to beat a certain team as you never know who is going to even be healthy or what their contract situations may end up being

The Wolves are on par with OKC and SA when you combine experience with talent.

I can't believe all of the talk about the Wolves being 'moody', Wolves players saying themselves that they don't listen to the coaches, and watching Finch get out coached in the playoffs every year, and yet don't think he's a part of the problem.

Don’t forget we have 2 trade exceptions one is roughly 12 mil and the other is 6-7 mil… pun intended.

I couldn't disagree more.

Sure, we're more experienced than them but that does very little to overcome the gulf in terms of talent.
