I’ll be there next Friday with my book it coupon. I can’t wait to get my free Pizza Hut basketball too.
What a great idea and what great times they were.I’ll be there next Friday with my book it coupon. I can’t wait to get my free Pizza Hut basketball too.
I could write a short story about one of my greatest days of high school, stretching an excused absence from school for a funeral and heading to Shakey’s with a bunch of my grocery store working friends.Wake me up when Shakey's is back.
Who knew that getting the chance to watch a reformed hippie make your pizza and then watching Laurel and Hardy while eating it could be a lifetime memory for a little kid.Wake me up when Shakey's is back.
Awesome story, and a great memory for you.Seeing this brings back one of my favorite memories of my Dad. One night he and my Mom went out to dinner at a Pizza Hut, long after his 8 kids had left the home, and they were enjoying their meal when he noticed a young, working class family in a nearby booth, with the parents patiently tending to the needs of their many children and having a good time of it all, which brought back the memories for my parents of their child-rearing adventures. My parents finished their meal ahead of the young family and when my Dad went to pay, he asked to cover the bill of the young family and asked that it be kept anonymous, and if those parents asked, just say something to the effect that it was in admiration and empathy for raising a young family.
A few days passed and my parents received a thank you note in the mail. The father had been kindly insistent to have the information of my parents and since my Dad paid with a check, it was easy enough to do.
The magic of the old Pizza Huts--and by extension, not having the distractions in our hands that have changed our social experiences.
this. very much this. think we'd all be a hell of a lot happier if we put down devices and connectivity more.Seeing this brings back one of my favorite memories of my Dad. We don't connect with the people and even places we go to nearly as much as we used to. I'm 46 and can still remember the layout of our Pizza Hut as a kid. Where the Pacman machine was, where we used to always sit, etc.this. very much this. think we'd all be a hell of a lot happier if we put down devices and connectivity more.
some of my favorite memories with the old man were eating at our local diner and making straw snakes and stacking cards on the table while waiting for our hot beef or cheeseburger and mac salad being made by a curmudgeonly Scandinavian grandma with nothing else in the world to distract you aside from old farmers talking about weather, farm equipment and the local HS hockey and football teams

My dad's favorite place to go was a hole in the wall place called Jake's Pizza. I swear their music playlist was like 10 songs. Every time I hear We Built This City, it takes me back to that place.

Been there, done that. The freeze-frame of the tweet makes him look like he just farted and is wondering if anyone else heard him.
