Not a lot going on right now so thought this was worthy of sharing. Several recent posts about McCaffrey and his wife. These stories are not really surprising. But it’s wild to me how these things were swept under the rug for so long. Another obvious difference between college town media and the Twin Cities media that would love to report anything that makes the U look bad.

The wife is legendary in this regard. Really nasty stuff comes out of her mouth at games. Fran is usually ok when he’s not with her. Lol
My in-laws are big Iowa State fans. My brother-in-law is a HS coach in Iowa, but went to a Fran practice and said that afterwards Fran came up to him and his friend and spent about 30 minutes warmly talking with them (no player was potentially being recruited). It was his one interaction with him, but came away very impressed.

My first clue that McCaffrey is a POS human being.

Don’t forget their son killed a person too

Based on the article you would think he was sentenced for something. Sentence: $1,000 fine and lost his license for 6 months. Would someone who wasn't the Iowa coach's son receive the same???

Dang.

Did Fran really win that much to merit the fixing of anything much less everything?
Small college town media aren’t going to ruffle feathers of the coach who can freeze them out of access to the one thing the locals care about. It’s not really Frannies influence as much as it is the need for media guys to have access to the program. Any coach would have that influence.

Access journalism does not deliver. See the NFL in 2025-2026. Awful

3 friends and myself found one open door for a Friday practice and watched 15 minutes of one of Fran's preseason practices. This was the Friday before the Gophers football team played Iowa in the Cooper DeJean fair catch game. I'm not a saint, but we all learned some new swearing combinations that day. Fran was merciless. F'n P#ssy was one of his favorites to call his players. Eventually, he told one of his F'n P#ssy players to get the hell off the court. Then, that wasn't enough so he told the player to get out of his F'n sight because he made Fran sick. Nice guy.

And he’s not in the Bobby Knight coaching tree, either.

I wonder how many modern players improve their performance after f bombs being hurled at them.
