Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Drake Lindsey, QB, Minnesota

Baker Mayfield has not received a contract extension at this time, which means Tampa Bay does not have its starter on the books for 2027. Drake Lindsey is not as refined as Fernando Mendoza was coming out of California, but there is a lot to like about the way he processes the field.

Are they're any believers here on GH?

Love Drake. But he will be closer to 114 than 14.

I look at it this way.....If Drake is getting legit first round buzz after the season it probably means we had a hell of a season because right now today nobody is spending a first round pick on him.

At first I thought BroncoRedux made that up but it's actually in the posted article. That seems like quite a leap at this point but maybe the author had some kind of unique vision.
 


Is this the same prognosticator who tabbed Mitch Leidner as a first-rounder?

Brosmer was identical or better than Drake in almost every meaningful QB stat and isn't anywhere close to an NFL starting caliber QB. Drake looked great for a freshman but he needs to get a lot better to get drafted in the first few rounds and it seems more likely to take 2-3 years than 1.

If he becomes a superstar and leads us to the CFP I would be pleasantly surprised to see him drafted on Thursday and have to worry about a QB for 2027.

Its all based on potential.

Brosmer was 24 when his college time was up. Lindsey would be 21 at next year's draft. Lindsey has a lot of potential because of his tangibles (bigger, strong arm, etc). Brosmer was limited on his development. The ceiling is much higher with Drake.

These predictions are all based on Lindsey improving from last year. I expect that he will. If he really improves, he could very easily be a 1st rounder.
