No need to be obtuse about it. Iowa not offering is significant given their track record of talent identification and development.
This could be as simple as Iowa had other players higher on their board. Teams do not use 247 or Rivals to direct their recruiting strategy. I will also say that two of Iowa’s earliest commitments were LBs, so perhaps they addressed that need early in the cycle. The third kid (Van Maanen) was just recently offered and quickly committed. He fits a similar physical profile to Wallace and perhaps was just a luxury add for them given they already had 2 LBs committed.
Also, Iowa typically offers 100-150 kids a cycle, which is a small number in comparison to several other schools. They show greater discernment for who they offer and don’t throw them out like candy. For example, in the 2027 class, Minnesota has offered 283 kids, Wisconsin has offered 364, Iowa has offered 129. Point being, they don’t automatically offer every kid they’re interested in recruiting
On the other hand, Iowa may very well have tried to recruit Tate and he told them he wanted to be further from home? If the kid’s HS is 3-4 miles from Kinnick Stadium, then that is very plausible. And doesn’t that sound familiar? Like every other player from the Minnesota metro wanting to get further from home. It’s not necessarily an indictment on the player or the hometown school and could end up benefitting Minnesota!
