True story.
Here are the predicate facts:
- Was a graduating HS Senior in 1976
- Drinking age in Georgia at the time was 18 (I was 17)
- Had a good friend who had turned 18
- McDonalds as a community service would provide a 10-gallon Igloo cooler, a gallon of orange concentrate, and however much ice you wanted for free upon request
- Oh, probably was a bit of a non-conformist or rebel or whatever for an A student
Anywho, on the last day of school the friend and I made the run to McDonalds for the orange juice, hit the liquor store for the vodka and Golden Grain, and created the "screwdriver" mix in the Igloo cooler.
Took it it English class where the teacher was so flabbergasted that she just yelled to get it out of the room. We said sure as everyone else was saying why? She was trying to hold back her laughing as we left the room.
Took it to Social Studies class where that teacher said "well we can't have any evidence" and proceeded to let the class imbibe at will. She had a cup too. Needless to say some folks got pretty drunk.
Didn't get caught so no harm no foul. So the answer is "yes" and then some. Good times.
