Not really. You’re saying that they coached them up beyond their potentialThat's literally what I posted.
I’m saying that others misread their potential
That’s close, but not the same thing

Good grief. Not really. You’re saying that they coached them up beyond their potential

You think it’s the same thing? I think it’s close but not the sameGood grief.
OK Sparky. You think it’s the same thing? I think it’s close but not the same
Cignetti isn’t coaching different schemes or better techniques than the other great coaches: so to me his advantage is identifying talent better
I just don’t think cignetti is a significantly better offensive or defensive coach than a lot of other guys who haven’t achieved what he has. So to me it’s the scouting more than the coaching.OK Sparky.
I have a hard time saying it’s all coaching them up when he didn’t coach many of them for more than a couple years. I think it’s more him identifying the talent and the rating services missing as they often do. The nfl draft showed us that it wasn’t just Cig getting guys to over perform and putting them in a position to succeed, these nfl teams see the talent.Mentioned this before...on paper IU's roster looked very similar to the Gophers as far as player ratings (sans Mendoza). Cignetti does a masterful job of finding the players that fit his scheme and he and his staff take it from there as far as coaching them up to and sometimes beyond their potential.
Yeah, obviously has a lot of talent but I think it breaks down into two camps. If folks are PJ apologists they’re going to say it’s talent for folks like me who think that PJ can’t X and O and/or game day coach his way out wet paper bag you’re gonna say it’s mostly coaching. I would say the talent is closer to what we have than the coaching. Cignetti runs many circles around PJ.I have a hard time saying it’s all coaching them up when he didn’t coach many of them for more than a couple years. Perhaps he does.Yeah, obviously has a lot of talent but I think it breaks down into two camps. It's both, which I said.I just don’t think cignetti is a significantly better offensive or defensive coach than a lot of other guys who haven’t achieved what he has. So to me it’s the scouting more than the coaching.
Indiana had 8 drafted last year to our 1, the talent level is not super close. It’s a lot harder to put metrics on the coaching, but must be an extremely large gap there in your opinion.Yeah, obviously has a lot of talent but I think it breaks down into two camps. You don't think being national champions had anything to do with it?Indiana had 8 drafted last year to our 1, the talent level is not super close. It’s a lot harder to put metrics on the coaching, but must be an extremely large gap there in your opinion.
One year sample size doesn’t cut it.Indiana had 8 drafted last year to our 1, the talent level is not super close. It’s a lot harder to put metrics on the coaching, but must be an extremely large gap there in your opinion.
The draft picks? No, not really. You don't think being national champions had anything to do with it?
What do you mean? The sample is what it is. He’s only been there two years. One year sample size doesn’t cut it.

Kinda crazy he was at low level schools for so long and had never won a title before.Cig is a top 3,NCAA coach
Like we coulda hired the guy.Kinda crazy he was at low level schools for so long and had never won a title before.
Since PJ has been here, I think this past year was our lowest NFL output. It’s an aberration – – at least hopefully. Year before we put four players into the NFL that made game day rosters, so let’s see how Indiana’s class does this year. That’s what I mean. What do you mean? The sample is what it is. He’s only been there two years.
