All Things 2026 NFL Draft/NFL UDFA Signings

Or you could take the glass half full view. Smith, who was a very likely 1st or 2nd round pick, decided to come back to the team for another season.
Fair point. Although many projections did not have him that high.

If you want to compete on a consistent basis, have to do better than this.
Which we do most years under Fleck as evidenced by the growing number of former Gophers in the NFL.

That said, number of players drafted doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of the team or program. Washington had 7 players drafted and finished with the same conference record as us. PSU had 8 and was a mess most of the year.

Do you constantly just wake up in a state of "woe is me" shit? I don't post much, but every thread between the basketball/football forums I've read makes me want to take one step closer to jumping into a pool with a toaster after reading your takes.

I'm as hard on Fleck & Company as the next guy, but you'd think we were back in the Wacker days with your negative retorts. I'm sorry your woefully incompetent POTUS lead you to believe that by voting for him for a 3rd time would be different, but give it a break. Step back from the ledge or join the rest of the boomers on a different forum.

What? No idea what you are saying here. What does the POTUS have to do with this at all, thats the kind of stuff for another board.

Did you read any of my posts defending Fleck, whom I like a lot, or any of the posts about taking the over on the win/loss record lines. Or talking about how Niko did a great job with what he had to work with.

Yep - I am not enamored with the portal pickups, and I believe that the more players you have drafted off your team will generally make you a better program. You need talent to be able to win on a consistent basis.

I think MN has two really good coaches in Medved and Fleck, and the biggest limiting factor is not their ability to coach or lead/build programs, it is the institutional support they receive in MN from both the university and private donors.

Hope the rest of your day is great!

Darius Taylor likely would have gotten drafted too. This is more about NIL keeping guys in school an extra year than some massive falloff in talent.
I think Darius Taylor will be an interesting. His 40 time at the combine, to me, could help or hurt him a lot.

I see everything that says nfl back except top end speed and durability.

Probably a 3rd/4th round pick next year regardless how this year goes.

Possibly yes I agree. I think Taylor is an excellent excellent player. I disagree with pharmacy gopher saying that Smith was a projected first or second round pick I do not believe he was. He very well maybe after this year but at the end of last year, he was not projected as a top two round. Obviously I hope he is this year because it will mean he had a very good year.

Pre-Draft Analysis

Barber has been up and down as a pass blocker over his collegiate career but can be effective for stretches of play. But his timing delivering his punch and the way he resets his hands appeared to improve over the years. Barber moves well enough to mirror in pass protection with good foot quickness. He's also an effective positional run blocker when he plays with a strong base, has good hand placement and keeps his feet running through contact. Overall, he has outstanding length which makes him an intriguing prospect at the NFL level. -- Scouts Inc.

Post-Draft Analysis

I've been a vocal critic of the Browns' draft strategy since I've been old enough to talk, but their front office is putting together a very solid class with the idea of building a foundation for a quarterback to be added in the 2027 draft. Barber will join first-rounder Spencer Fano on the offensive line, and he could be a Year 1 starter at either left or right tackle given his experience at both spots in college, just like Fano. Barber's 39 college starts will help him see the field early, but he has to clean up his punch timing and lower body technique. -- Matt Miller
