The Mountain West is in serious dialogue to add FCS powerhouse North Dakota State as a football-only member starting this coming season

Wow, I guess I could mention that most of ND, SD and outstate MN by pass the Twin Cities now after the BLM & ICE riots. I could also mention that streets are still boarded up after the riots. Lets get real, MN football is a after thought in the B10 and if it wasn't for the 3 boring games to start the season you'd have a hard time getting to a bowl game.
Would you like to elaborate on the boarded up portions of Mpls and ICE riots, really? Take a step back from all the Fox News talking pts; but thank you for proving my point about the Fargo residents and their narrow minded thoughts on what's going on in the big city. Sorry the Gophers spurred you or your sons when it came to recruiting, but beating your chests on the Gophers forum is really showing your toughness/pride....

  • Opponent: North Dakota State Bison football
  • Date: September 24, 2011
  • Result: NDSU 37, Minnesota 24
I think the Gophers should take on the Bison to get some revenge....
This is the Gopher team they are so, so proud of beating, and that last win vs a 6-6 Illinois team was against a team that dropped its last 6 games:

They're the kind of person who quakes in their boots if they see an NLU - "Not Like Us"

It is crazy that Gopher team lost to a boarder "rival" Bison squad, but beat a Boarder Rival Hawkeyes team to retain Floyd.

Who hates IOWA?

iowa outgained us 446 - 371
Had more first downs 21 to 15
Fewer penalties
Better on 3rd down
More possession

We were down 21-10 until about 8 minutes left in the game. Score two TDs and failed on 2-pointers on each.

I was in about the 3rd row in the corner with my two very young sons where Q scored the winning points. I was going bonkers.

Fantastic game.

I was on the opposite corner.

That was the longest 3 yd scamper by Fleetwood both in terms of distance traveled and time elapsed I have ever seen.

Can we give you some trees? They help provide oxygen.

Barren?

Go lay by your dish

NCAA voted to allow NDSU to be College Football Playoff Eligible and Bowl Eligible and MWC Title game Eligible today.
Even the NCAA knows how big the NDSU brand is nationally.
I've always heard people from Fargo think it's the center of the universe, this goes a long way in helping to prove it

Fargo is very close to the geographic center of North America

Which is Rugby, of course!
Actually, it is a different place that no one had ever heard of:

He’s said some dumb stuff but his reciting the perception of Mn not only in our neighboring states but countrywide is legit. We have become a punch lline.

The usa is a punch lline [sic]

It’s “punchline”, and we are the butt of the joke.

Wrong forum, too.
I’ll make sure to take Siri out to the woodshed for putting the space in there. And, I didn’t bring it up just commented.

According the the American Merriam-Webster dictionary it’s punch line.

According to the British Oxford dictionary it’s punchline.

NDSU avoiding SDSU.
I'm sure Northern Illinois will quickly realize how stupid it is to be in the MWC football only, when the big western schools left and the money won't be any better than the MAC.

If they admit their mistake and back out, that will open the door for SDSU. Or maybe Montana (State).

Northern Illinois foray to the Mountain West could fail, no doubt.

However, is it really any worse being the eastern most MWC team vs being the western most MAC team?

Maybe whatever agreement the MWC gets due to the PAC 12 raid, will make it the better long-term bet.

Their four conference road trips this year are to UNLV, San Jose St., NDSU, and Wyoming. They lucked out in the travel department and get Hawaii at home. So I would say their travel expenses for football will increase significantly (I have no idea how much "significantly" is, I saw Ohio St. and Michigan spend $10 million per year on travel, but NIU is not Ohio St. or Michigan).

I read something that the Mountain West's TV deal supports the "legacy schools." I don't know how NIU factors into that.

The move to the MWC will infuse $34 million over six years. I'm not sure how much the extra travel expense will eat into that. But after the money for the move stops coming in after six years, they'll still have the increased travel costs to pay for.

I'm guessing NIU ran the numbers and will come out ahead in the long run. If they went to the Mountain West in all sports, that might be different.

So yes to my initial question, for the 4 road games that will all likely require flights as opposed to buses, that likely is significantly worse. DeKalb to Fargo would not be too hellacious of road trip via ground.

Word is that the Mountain West was ready to add NDSU, SDSU, Montana and Montana State last off season and was willing to subsidize their entry. At the time, it appeared that UNLV and AFA were leaving. Instead, MWC is paying a significant sum to keep those schools in the fold. When the lousy media rights deal came out, MWC needed a new infusion of cash and another school to backstop against an eventual departure of UNLV and AFA and the folks in Fargo were one of two schools willing to pay such a ridiculous fee (Sac St being the other, being used as leverage against the Bisons). I don't doubt for a minute that if Montana State, Montana and SDSU came to the table with a similar bag of cash that MWC would extend invitations. In other words, I think the door is open now. Money talks and MWC is cash strapped.

For the average fan, 10pm (or later) kickoffs and navigating the various streamers and linear carriers to find a game, will suck. The MAC isn't a sexy league, and MACtion isn't ideal, but having eastern and central time zone opponents is a positive.
