Winters Grady Commits to the Gophers!

Im not saying this is a bad signing... But it lowers my expectations when the player himself says his foot hasn't been "right" in 5 years.... That's all
The dude was just playing full court pickup ball while being a Michigan basketball. If he was THAT fragile, it wouldn't have been happening.

My understanding is that it has been a playable but not optimal injury. It sounded like he wanted to take corrective action on it this summer- whatever that is. Maybe it just needs some cleanup and he is ready by fall. I would have to believe that the U's doctors think so.
He needs to see Dr. Scholl

I get why some are skittish here with anything injury related coming off of last year and also what happened with Omot.

But gotta believe Niko is going to do everything possible to avoid a situation like last year happening again so they are going to do their due diligence on a guy with a known issue to make sure it isn't going to be something that keeps him from being available.

Issue has been there for him since high school but clearly he has learned how to play with it and be effective since it didn't keep him from having a top ranking or signing with the team that just won the National Championship.

The Vikings just spent a first round draft pick on Caleb Banks. He of the 3-time broken foot. But he has a note from his doctor saying he’s good to go, so nothing to worry about. It’s not like a 6’6” 330 lb guy will put much stress on his foot, right? 🙄
Bad feet worry me.

I really think situations like last season was just really bad luck. Even if you take a chance on an injury prone guy or two, you don't expect that many contributors to be out.

Yeah, they rolled the dice on Stephens and Omot being healthy and it didn't work out.

Willis, Vaihola and the late season injury to JCJ were just bad luck. Losing 3 starters and most of the playable depth should have completely tanked the season but credit to Niko and the remaining players as they managed to battle and stay competitive in spite of all the things working against them.

Stephens was a very late add and I don't think would have played much even if healthy. Omot's really the only case where they gambled on a known injury risk and lost. The rest were bad luck.

Anyone surprised, they got rid of the GM, but the scouts and coaches are the same. Most places gave the vikings a D or an F on taking him at 18. Some teams had him at 40 with his injuries.
