I want to be optimistic but it feels like the same Wild. All these guys that are supposed to be great players. Go out and make something happen. I hope I'm wrong but I see the writing all over the wall, Dallas in 5.

Meatsauce?

The Wild have no one to blame but themselves. Their refusal (inability?) to work the PP down low proved fatal, and they had so few good looks for most of their PP time. Ridiculous they could fall apart that hard just because of one guy being out of the lineup.

Also their overall zone entries throughout the game were abysmal.

1. Start the game actually ready to play
2. Special teams execution was atrocious
3. Yurov is in over his head…kid panicked at crucial time.
4. The soon to be highest paid player in the NHL was MIA.

Other than that it was a great game….

Number 4 i think has a lot to do with his buddy Mats Zuccarello not being in the lineup. If we had Mats Zuccarello last night i think Krill scores at least 1 goal.

No doubt it had some impact, but if you are in theory one of the best players in the NHL it should not completely remove you from the game. If that’s the reason, he’s not what the Wild thinks he is.

It's the postseason. Hardly any teams in the NHL SC playoffs are really very healthy.

Not to mention that if Kaprisov’s success is strictly dependent on Zuccarello the Wild have a serious problem.
McDavid has also scored 0 points in the playoffs so far.

It's tough to score in the playoffs. He is doing other things well and has 4 points. I get him being under heavier scrutiny because of the contract situation his agent held out for, but I would not describe him as being invisible/MIA in the series

in general, really did not like the line combos last night.

McDavid has averaged 1.53 ppg in his career in the playoffs. Kaprisov has averaged 1.21 ppg in the playoffs in his career. I said MIA last night.

If Mats absence early in the season is any indication, the entire team relies heavily on Zuccarello.

yep, so i expect they will produce overall. Going to be some ebb and flow to each of their games. Some nights will be good, some nights are tougher. What makes the playoffs amazing is you need everyone. Probably a really different convo if not for the great stick play on Boldy by Duchene when he could've made a 2 goal lead late shorthanded on the empty net.

We'll see what their mettle is on Saturday. I'm with Boldy in that I think this group is still confident. They need to not spot Dallas an advantage 1:30 into the game Saturday though.

Yep, the Wild got the game Dallas played poorly. Need to win games when Dallas plays well to win the series.

Offensive zone faceoff win percentages by game

Game 1: Dallas 48% Wild 52%
Game 2: Dallas 71% Wild 29%
Game 3: Dallas 57% Wild 29%

The average offensive zone faceoff win percentage by the winning team across every series is 51.8%

Wild need to do better than the last 2 games that’s for sure. 😳

Sure and if that's the case I would imagine that Dallas would have an interest in cheap shotting Zuccarello right? Nah, Dallas would never do anything like that.

They are definitely more evenly matched than past years. We will see but they still might be a step behind.
definitely a step behind down the middle (and that's with Dallas missing Hintz) and that only gets worse if they happen to get by Dallas and play colorado.

I don’t understand how that was a penalty on MN. There’s defender pushed him right into the goalie.

Already down 1-0 lol it’s never gonna change with this team

Well, if this continues, Guerin will need to consider breaking up this leadership group.

Stop taking penalties. Also Brink can not be on PP unit 1. Just run your normal line of Faber, Hughes, and the top line.

Guerin. A dog with a note in his mouth coulda coached the gold medal team. Meh

Faber has probably been our best player this series so far
