All Things 2026 Transfer Portal Thread

We are among the big boys in transfer portal rankings. :)
Those ratings are screwy. If we had gotten Kordel, Groves and Grady out of HS- that would be a pretty well regarded class. Then Evans would have been a lot higher ranked last year until NC did a Tyson on him.

I just saw an update and we are now #52- but Kordel still has no ranking. Wisky is #51.

When I looked a few days ago, two of the four transfers didn't have a "transfer rating" so that's probably part of it at least. The portal rankings don't mean much IMO. So hard to gauge players that haven't played much at the college level.

There are some proposed rules floating around out there that would allow players to play 5 seasons over 5 years. There was a possibility (albeit slim) of the same thing last season. These players are entering the portal on the chance that standard is enacted.

I sure hope the years of eligibility aren't increased.
Tyson would probably make more playing another season with the Gophers than going undrafted and playing in the D League. But he could get drafted, as he showed lots of offensive skills with Minnesota.

No doubt. A guy on a two way NBA salary who plays the year in the D League gets 578k. Obviously Tyson would make more than a million in the college market if he had another year come his way.

Off topic, but it's ironic that the NBA is the one league that has made an earnest attempt to pay young athletes, including the creation of an entire league to facilitate player development. In contrast, the NFL has the harshest age requirement and no minor leagues while MLB eliminated an entire level of minor league baseball in an effort to offload player development.

The NBA's reward is going to be players staying in college longer than they should from a professional perspective, creating a lesser version of the product.

The rich truly do get richer
Duke has told him he will play the point, according to him. It will be interesting if that occurs. Duke has a number of options at the point.

Illinois stopped recruiting him for that reason. He wanted the ball more than at Wisconsin and Illinois couldn’t promise that. Not enough balls to go around. Heck of a player, though.

This is going to end badly for the kid....he was a volume scorer on a small college team and remained a chucker at Utah. He will struggle at UNC , and won't have the constant green light like he had at his previous schools. I don't understand this signing at all.....
I don't think he will thrive there, but he might look something like this:

1000%

Would we have any interest? Low-priced option. End of the bench developmental guy. Wouldn't expect a lot of minutes. If he develops, great. If not, we lose nothing. Our depth in the frontcourt, particularly at the 4 and 5, is sketchy.

This is satire............
I wondered that myself.

He could put the star on the big Christmas tree, like the abominable snow monster!

Last year in college, big paycheck and he has to make it on a big stage to have a chance at the NBA, so why not. There is always overseas in two years.
