Who wins the Minnesota Wild Dallas Stars Series?

I got Minnesota in 6 games. We finally gonna get out of the 1st round.

I went with the Stars in 6 although my reverse psychology method has already failed me numerous times as a MN sports fan.

I'm guessing partly because they have an easier path

It's most definitely because of the path ahead of Vegas. Carter Hart has looked really good the last few games as he's settled into the #1 Goalie slot. It's probably not factored into this, but the company line for a few months now has been if Vegas makes it far enough into the playoffs (whatever that means?), William Karlsson could return, which would be a huge boost. He hasn't played since November 8th, so who knows how sharp he would be

They’re still pretty bad and have to play a team with essentially the same number of points as them in the first round.

As a VGK fan, there's nobody that scares me in the Western Conf right now. Like I said a few weeks/months ago several times; The only thing that matters is how you're playing after April 1st. Over the last 10, in the West only the LA Kings have as good of a record as VGK.

All that being said, they could lose in 5 in the first round. That's why the SC is the best postseason sports there is.

Dallas in 7 I say. Would love to be wrong, I just don't quite think we take them.

Sure there is something to be said for playing well now but seems haphazard to overlook the whole season when teams have different motivations right now.

I’d like the wild to hire a coach with the last name of Burn. I could then Look forward to a headline of —-wild fires Burn.—-

It'll come down to the goalies, that's for sure. I did some random checking, just for the hell of it and since March 1st, here are the numbers for the 4 goalies in that series:

MIN
- Wallstedt .927 SV% and 1.97 GAA (8 starts)
- Gustavsson .893 SV% and 2.78 GAA (12 starts)

DAL
- DeSmith .901 SV% and 2.43 GAA (6 starts)
- Oettinger .906 SV% and 2.27 GAA (15 starts)

I wouldn't think Dallas will play DeSmith much, obviously, but it will be interesting to see how the Wild deploy their two goalies.

I have Dallas in 6. Prove me wrong Wild

Based on the updated injury news, I’m going wild in 6

Fair, poor word choice. They are not a strong division winner. They’d be a wildcard team if they were in the central.
Go look at LA and Anaheims goal diff and you’re going to see why whoever gets them will have a large skew in their data. It’s also part of why the Avs data is so high despite a rough 2nd round matchup. At the time of writing I believe that was the matchup LV got. Add in a perceived easier 2nd round matchup dodging two of mn, Dallas, and Colorado and their path is quite easy. They’re now about 9% implied odds at most books getting Utah in the 1st round.

I had heard some squawking and screaming almost a week ago about the price of Buffalo playoff tickets. Those are some big numbers, no doubt about it. There are ways teams can go about this to try to mitigate this kind of behavior.

For a number of years now, the VGK have done something called the "Knight's Vow" with their season ticket holders; for basically "pledging" that you are not going to re-sell your tickets, you get them at a pretty significantly discounted rate. It tends to make it at least a little tougher to jack the prices and also keeps it at least somewhat more of a home ice advantage.

something similar in the Wild STH agreement (and I think most are doing this now). Problem is there's not a ton of repercussions if they do it for these postseason strips most of the time

Ticket Resale Limitations: Minnesota Wild may monitor and track STM’s resale and trade activity
involving the season ticket(s), and it reserves the right to suspend or cancel the Account of any
STM who it reasonably believes has purchased a ticket package, or additional tickets at an STM
preferred rate, for the primary purpose of reselling the ticket(s).

Don't think anyone here in the US is as hardcore as they do it in Europe, where you must be a STH and there is no legal reselling on secondary markets (and you must be wearing home supporter gear unless you're in the designated away section), but it's very clearly a problem in the US. Could very easily sell mine for the Wild postseason for profit (tickets in the section I'm in are going for like 150 over face), but that super fucking sucks to gouge your fellow fans. Personally I'd rather make it so you can't resell them, but then people just do it on marketplace or whatever though it does limit your market a lot more. Agree you could very easily make people bring a STH pass they have to scan on gameday and suspend tickets for those not making a threshold of games.

Minnesota Wild

Record: 46-24-12, 104 points
First-round opponent: Stars

Case for a Stanley Cup run: Last season, the Wild relied heavily on their defensive identity, only to be ousted in the first round against the Golden Knights. This season, they have become one of the strongest teams in the offensive zone -- tied for 11th in scoring -- while their goalie tandem of Filip Gustavsson and Jesper Wallstedt has made them one of the best teams in the league in goal suppression, finishing fourth at 2.87 goals against per game.

It's an approach that has enabled the Wild to challenge two of the best teams in the NHL -- the Avs and the Stars -- in the Central Division. It creates the belief for the Wild that beating one, if not both, will allow them to mount a serious challenge for the franchise's first Stanley Cup title.

X factor: Their offensive depth. Go back to what they were a year ago. The Wild were a team that relied heavily on a select group to create and/or score goals. It's part of the reason why they were among the lowest teams in terms of goals scored that qualified for the playoffs.

Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov have received supplemental help this season, as the Wild have nine players that have scored 10 or more goals in 2025-26. That balance has also helped them finish with a top five power-play unit in the NHL.

Player to watch: Quinn Hughes. Wild general manager Bill Guerin traded quite a bit to get one of the NHL's best defensemen for moments like this. In Hughes' time with the Wild, he has averaged more than a point per game.

What he has provided already has made the Wild a more formidable team because of how he can pick teams apart as a facilitator. But what he did at the Olympics for the gold-medal-winning Team USA creates the expectation Hughes could be in store for an even bigger star turn once the playoffs begin.

Bold prediction: If the Wild advance beyond the first round -- for the first time since 2015 -- they'll win the Stanley

The Wall confirmed for game 1! Let's play!
