I don’t know what is happening but I like it a lot
A party’s going on apparently 😃

From Dan Hayes’ column today in The Athletic -

So, what’s their secret? Apparently, they enjoy each other’s company.

“This group really likes each other,” Twins manager Derek Shelton said. “Not that that matters, but it does matter. It’s a tight-knit group. … The first night in Baltimore, 16 guys, 17 guys at dinner. Team dinner the next night. Buck rents a room the next night. This group enjoys being around each other. And I think the one thing about it is they all understand their roles.”

———————-
And from our Captain, what a leader and a legend; he’s rapidly moving up my favorite Twins list -

“We chill,” Buxton said. “We come to play baseball. We focus on ourselves. The one big thing I told them in spring training is, ‘The only thing that matters is who is in this clubhouse.’ Once you believe in that and you understand, day in and day out, this is the brotherhood, this is a family, it starts becoming reality for us. Spring training was kind of that feel and touch era. Now, it’s more get after it.”

Re: Buxton, first: I have started to become awestruck at what a wonderful chain in the Twins history he has become. Inevitably the conversation around Buxton comes to “what coulda been if he could have stayed healthy” but his resilience to the disrupted seasons and rudderless management would be impressive in itself and after last season’s inferno sale at the deadline, it’d be hard to blame him for asking for a trade. Not only did he not do so, but he has taken the enthusiastic reins of leadership for this patchwork group of young and/or unestablished players has been a sight. His love for being a Twin, when it’s been pretty hard in recent years to find much to love about the franchise, has him moving rapidly up the ranks of all time favorite Twins and MN athletes in my book (similar to yours NYC). A final word -while it’s not been a straight line, since ‘84 the Twins CF position has taken on a pretty luminous glow from Puck to Torii to Buck. Game 6, All Star robbery of Bonds, Bobblehead Day hit for the cycle-not the only memories but singular, spectacular, unforgettable moments that we’ve been provided as fans.

Re: the team’s makeup. I am only able to watch the highlights and when a team’s winning, all seems great, of course; that being said, the difference in the squad’s juice last year compared to what I am seeing this year is palpable; with all the other concerns about Brooks Lee, one thing that popped up last year that didn’t sit right to my eyes was the attitude I felt was on display-the game winning hit against the Tigers and the pure joy from the dugout and Lee was electric and my favorite part of this surge is seeing the reactions from the dugout-as Shelton stated, it looks like guys who really are pulling for each other (a special shoutout to Kody Clemens being a great cheerleader, who would have ever thought given his father’s prickly personality).

Of course it could fall apart as quickly as it came together-after all, the last two seasons have provided double digit win streaks in between otherwise putrid seasons, but this early season ride has been a lot of fun so far and they’ve been a really easy group to jump on board with.

In their last 8 games, the Twins have scored at least 3 runs in 9 different innings including 5+ in 4 different innings. They had an additional 7 run inning earlier this month against Tampa.

That's wild for a lineup that has just one great hitter (Buxton) and that hitter has really struggled.

Apparently I need to keep calling out Lee. Another home run today. Nice win.
Closer, Lee cut it to -0.2.

I am sickly obsessed with tracking Lee's WAR until he gets into positive ground. He had cut it to -0.1 before yesterday.

Last night he went 1-4, Walked, drove in a run and played without an Error, but his WAR dropped to -0.2.

And to be second in the AL in runs despite having only scored 1 turn in three games is 🍌

This team could be decent. Bullpen still beyond shaky. Open the wallet Tom and go sign Michael Kopech.

Maybe Kopech is still not healthy?

Only had 11 IP during 2025, and was sidelined for the Dodgers WS run.

So was Correa just a giant cancer for the twins the last two years? Appears to be a cancer to the Astros based on their collapse last year and struggles this year.

Great form tackling and he went low😎
This is another good form tackle. He accelerates as he makes the hit, explodes into the guy, wraps him up and keeps his feet moving. That principal played football.https://www.fox9.com/news/oklahoma-principal-stops-gunman

With the Twins I think it was more about Correa being hurt and unproductive.

He was having a stellar 2024. All Star and worth the cash. He went down and the team tanked.

2025 he was awful while taking more than 20% of their payroll.

Toxic combo.

1-3 with a solo homer through 6 innings 🤞

This might’ve been answered already but, how did we not have insurance on Pablo Lopez? At least partial.
