I will truly never understand how Denver keeps finding these goalies who turn into Hasek come postseason. Carle is one of the greatest college coaches ever, but there is some serious black magic going on with that program this century. I can’t imagine how awesome that feels as a fan
 


Ya at the start of the day yesterday, I might not have been sure my priority but I'll take 11 for DU over 7 for uw. Gophers will never catch DU so better to stay close to the others. Both have an incredible record in the Frozen Four.
 





Not even joking, I’ve seen more Gopher fans today than Sue fans. “The best fanbase in college hockey” is a bunch of bandwagons
 


If Hastings pulls it off the argument about him being a better coach than Motzko is clear. And those that called for him in 2018 (not me) are the smart ones.
 



It means this tourney format is a joke which we already knew. Denver is asleep at the switch.

DU: 10-2 (10-3 with vacated)
UM: 9-3
uw: 6-2 (6-3 with vacated)
UND: 8-5
BC: 5-7
BU: 5-7
UMN: 5-8

That’s the thing is literally nobody called for him in 2018.

At that time Hastings had a grand total of zero NCAA tournament wins under his belt.
The scouting report on him was that he was able to beat up on a weak conference and then lose against the big boys.

Perhaps a case study of why we should be careful to put so much stock into the results of a random one and done tournament.

Do people really think Adam Nightingale just forgets how to coach when the tourney rolls around?

Hastings has done more with less talent than Motzko over time. Seems to me he's just a better hockey coach. Is what it is. Motzko era is over.

Nightingale and Naurato are not in the discussion of great coaches yet cuz they're young. For now they are building choker reputations.

Carle is just on another planet for his age.
 

Anyone who thinks Wisconsin would be in the same position they’re currently in with a best of 3/5/7 format is on drugs.

As for Motzko his mind boggling decisions in the championship game and having to rely on Close (not a terrible goalie but he wasn’t exactly stealing wins either) cost him during the years he had his best rosters. Also idk if he could’ve done anything different vs the cows but those games were hard to watch.

Cool but it's not. This isn't a discussion on if the format is good lol we all want best of three home regionals.

It's straight up a Motzko vs Hastings better coach debate. I take Hastings. You take whichever one you want.

The topic of the thread is 2026 regionals so arguably his comment is more on topic than most others.
 

The point is you’re using a format that leads to completely random results as the basis of your argument. That and you contradict yourself 1000x over with these hindsight narratives.

Denver just had a great shot to go up two on the PP. Little over two minutes to go.
 



Hastings now has 2 title game meltdowns under his belt. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
 


David Carle is already a top three college hockey coach of all time.

NCHC has eight of the last ten titles.
Carle has three of the last five.
 


Hastings is a failure and it’s good we didn’t hire him ;). Carle is better than Herb Brooks (ok he might actually be when it comes to recruiting goalies).
 

HAHAHAHAHA thank God I don’t have to hear shit from Badger fans tonight. They were obnoxious at the game
