The Mountain West is in serious dialogue to add FCS powerhouse North Dakota State as a football-only member starting this coming season

I haven’t been on here to talk about. Too busy dealing with national press

Who was interviewing you?

Did you have to travel to deal with all the national press, or did you do everything on MS Teams?

I have to say, NDSU's home schedule for this season is ...... boring?

I suppose some of the old timers will still remember and appreciate the playoff rivalry that NDSU and Jax State had from the 80's back in DII. So maybe

Other than Wyoming, which in of itself is only because of Bohl going there, which team on the home schedule is exciting?

Fordham is a meh FCS team, I'm guessing it's a holdover from the previous FCS schedule. People would not have cared that game, if NDSU was still in the MVFC this year. I see no reason for them to care this year.

San Jose and Nevada are the two worst MWC programs. They were two of the last added to the MWC as other teams kept leaving, and are really no better than Big Sky teams as programs. Nevada comes to Fargo this year. Why should people care?

Northern Illinois is no different than a Missouri Valley FC Illinois school. It's the same thing as Illinois State. Why should people care?

UTEP has been terrible the last few years in CUSA. Why should people care?

I don't care no matter who they play.

It’s ok. NDSU can play at us bank anytime we want

MWC will be fun. Oregon 2027 and Texas or Florida in 2028 as well

More exciting than playing Southern Illinois, Southeast Missouri State and Saint Thomas.

In all honesty ... is it?

Nevada, UTEP, and Northern Illinois really may not be that much better than MVFC teams, if at all. SEMO and ST were non-conf games. Fordham probably won't be better than those.

And I'm not talking purely in terms of (perceived) team quality, I'm talking in terms of what gets fans excited to come to the dark Fargo Dome for a game. None of the above are teams that NDSU should lose to.

honestly the MWC isn't much better than MVFC, it's pretty watered down as is whole G5

I could see them getting to playoffs eventually and getting throttled and pumping their chest though

NDSU ranked #3 behind UNLV and New Mexico in 1 preseason poll I saw. If NDSU beats those 2 on the road NDSU will be making the CFP
The fact that this statement is true is absolute proof that the SEC/Big 10 need to come up with someone to shut out the smaller conferences.

Much as I hate the Bison, I still firmly believe all FBS conference champs should make the playoffs. Just like EVERY OTHER LEVEL OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

The MWC is a watered down joke of a conference now, and that's coming from a WYO grad/fan. A bunch of teams that can't and won't compete with anyone of consequence. It's a shame, but true. NDSU adds nothing but another low budget D1 product. As much as it pains me to admit, the whole conference should add the ND's, SD's, Montana's, and Idaho's and be FCS.

I would rather another Level of College Football be created for all the other conferences besides the Big 10, SEC, ACC & Big 12.

Aren’t you ineligible for any post season play for the first two years? Also a big assumption you’ll win all the other games, I doubt that happens.

Just trolling?

Also, do you think any of last years CFP teams would've lost to illinois state at home?

They are, but they're trying to argue they should be bowl eligible this year

Agreed. It actually could be fun to watch a playoffs for the G5 schools.

I’ve been touting this for years. The overall difference between the Power conferences and the G’s is huge and with the money difference it’s only going separate more. I would think the G teams would want their own playoff. Maybe they think the tv money isn’t going to be there if they do.

I am curiously interested in watching the PAC12(8) season unfold.

NDSU paid $5 Million to NCAA and WILL BE CFP / BOWL eligible Day 1. NCAA assured NDSU this behind closed doors else we would not of jumped.

Also NDSU will be in the CFP before the Gophers (not smack, just being real)

NDSU most years easily compete with the Top 40-50 FBS teams consistently, we will do great in the MWC.

The current 12 team CFP gives autobids to the five highest ranked conference champions. This is intended to be the four remaining "power" conf champions and then the highest rated "non-power" conf champion.

Last year since the ACC champion Duke was a huge upset win, there were two non-power conf champions, but that is unusual.

All of this is to say, to me it's unlikely that the champion of the new version of the Mountain West will be top rated by the CFP committee. It's too weak of a conference now. The best programs have left of the new version of the Pac 12. I would put it more akin to the MAC and CUSA.

I think most years it will be the champion from the American conf or the new Pac 12.

I-A/FBS has never, ever had its post-season managed by the NCAA. It has always been bowl games, then Bowl Alliance/BCS, then CFP.

Your desire here does not compute. It's not a thing, at this division. Enjoy the FCS playoff, that seems to meet your requirements.

Why would the Big Ten and SEC allow the TV deal for that new entity to be watered down by the ACC and Big 12?

If there is to be a break away, it should just be those two leaving everyone else in the dust.
