ROAD TO "2027" SELECTION SUNDAY, MN -- You say "why?" I say "why not?"
Let's take a look ahead to November 2 and the start of the next college basketball season with a Pre-Portal Field of 76 projection. The offseason "madness" kicks into full gear today with the official start of free agency. So take a deep breath and hope somehow your favorite team doesn't lose all its best players, especially low- and mid-major programs like Saint Thomas who await decisions of its five potential returning starters, Nolan Minessale, Nick Janowski, Carter Bjerke, Ben Oosterbaan, and Austin Herro.
Buckle up, cowboys (and cowgirls).
An * denotes the automatic qualifier in a multiple-bid conference. Automatic qualifiers have the most NCAA Tournament appearances (per conference) since the 1999-2000 season. The number in parentheses represents position in the field based partly on both 2026 NCAA Tournament advancement and final NET ranking.
