Fleck, speaking at the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Clinic last week, told the audience his teams frequently exceed expectations of prognosticators and this year’s team can be “sneaky good.” He also told Sports Headliners quarterback Drake Lindsey is improved in throwing the deep ball.

Former Gopher wide receiver and now TV analyst Ron Johnson after being asked if national champion Indiana’s coaching staff is superior to Minnesota’s: “No, I wouldn’t say that. It’s all about the dollars (to pay players).”

Johnson is an admirer of Lindsey including his 6-foot-5 height. That’s prototypical of ideal NFL quarterbacks. “It (the height) changes the trajectory of the ball,” Johnson told Sports Headliners.

This thread is just too, too good.

A coach says something even mildly positive (no matter how innocuous) and the reactions are lighting-swift and beyond hilarious. Just too funny. Some folks are trying so very, very, VERY hard to be KFAN-level cynics. Junior Reusses. Barreiros-in-waiting.

Oooooh! So cool. So jaded. So hard-boiled... at least, in their own minds.

Ron needs access to the program and on top of that he cohosts PJ’s show. What do you think he’s gonna say?

On the flipside, I love Lindsey too. He had in my opinion a very solid freshman year held his poise in some very tough games and helped us pull them out in the end. I’m also guessing that he looks just a little more nimble this year.
 




So the season ended about 3 months ago. Just wait to see what he can do in the next 6 before the season starts!
 






I think a priority for his present and his future, he should watch tapes of Ben Rothlesberger, and work on evading a rush by using good footwork in the pocket. Ben was big and didn't have any speed, but he could maneuver so well in the pocket.

Good example pocket awareness definitely something to emulate but Ben ran a 4.75 at the combine which is probably about half a second faster than our guy. Drake will get a bit more nimble every year….

Drake might be able to run a 5 sec 40 with a little work. So pedestrian, but not the worst ever.

Big Ben had great feet for a man his size (relatively) He didn't have straight line speed but he was very nimble and had excellent footwork. I get your point though
 


Doesn't mean much if we don't have WR's that can consistently beat the mid-to-top tier CB's across the B1G on these deep routes.

Yup. Force safeties to respect the run and WRs suddenly become better. How much better? That's where the talent part come into play.
