The U bought Station 19. What do you want to see The U do with it? Keep as BWW? New venture? Something bolder?

Meh, we have few nearby options and more leaving, it's a bummer

Big 10
Campus Pizza/Bar Luchador
Hell, Applebess is gone, now chik-fil-a

It was nice having options very close to stadium
The Leaning Tower (became the Hole sports bar)

It's a two minute ride on the train. I do it for every hoops and hockey game I attend. Super easy. If it's above 40-45 degrees, I enjoy the walk.

Hard pass. Multiple reasons.

Due to lack of options on campus, most games I go to with my crew we pick a rally point to meet somewhere that works for us in the suburbs, enjoy a pre-game meal/beverage there before heading to Williams/Mariucci.

We started going to corner bar

And then they got the boot.

Can't win

Do we know it is closing? Do we know other bar/restaurant won't replace BWW if it does close?
U now holds the lease. I'm guessing for now they'll just hold it but wanting flexibility for any future plans with land

They should put in a place that sells the best sub sandwiches, toasted with garlic butter, Italian dressing and a whole head of shredded lettuce as well as serve cheap beer.

I would call it The Big 10.
Doesn't thirty bales in Hopkins serve the Big 10 style subs on ocassion as a pop up. I believe the same owners. Or there is a bar in Hopkins I believe the former owners of the Big 10 in Stadium Village have a place and occasionally serve those best sub sandwiches we all remember, at least older Alums would remember. I miss that place. Was the go to spot before or after basketball games.

As a person who works at the U, I think could do some stuff better, but I find it amazing what general public complains about
To quote an "educated employee": oh fuck off :D

30 Bales is the place owned by proprietors of the former Big 10.

Yup. They have food truck that serves subs. I had one tonight

Side note: Just learned that Mesa pizza and Burrito Loco in Dinkytown both closed last year. That's crazy to me, considering how busy they were when I was in school.

Well since they closed Hooters at MOA maybe they can relocate there?
Disappointed to hear this as I meet my friend on the other side of the metro halfway every few years. Always get the medium wings and cheese fries. Has to be the last one in the state after the Burnsville one closed like a decade ago. Somehow I don't see the U not extending BWWs for this idea.

Dang. I was obsessed when that became a BWW during my college days. Didn't have one in my little country home town.

The food quality has gotten a little worse over the years...
I feel as though the wings have gotten smaller and the meat to skin ratio has gotten worse

Maybe for pizza, but to me the quality of burrito loco was meh last time I went. I used to really like it.
I'm guessing you were like me when you had it, stoned or hammered, so it was amazing 😂😂

I stand by the fact their Monday deal was amazing...order a beer and get a giant ass chimichanga for free

FYI, the building is on the National Register of Historic Places. That will make tearing it down next to impossible, thankfully.

Myth #4: If my property is listed on the National Register, it will be protected forever and can never be demolished.

Fact: You may have heard that a property listed on the National Register can never be demolished or altered, and that the government will step in and protect any threatened property. In fact, no such protection exists in federal or state laws. Property owners can do whatever they wish with their property according to their local zoning laws. The only way your use of a property could be affected by government intervention is with a federal or state government undertaking.

Myth #5: I never said it would be protected forever and can never be demolished. I said it would be next to impossible. The backlash would be huge, IMO and something the state and the university would probably want to avoid.

Myth #6. Backlash would not be "huge".

Objections by people who are not willing to put their money where their mouth is. Minnesotans love to tell other people how to spend their money.

Get your buddies together and buy the place. I gather that's next to impossible.

Who has the best near-the-stadium bar/entertainment district in the Big Ten? Is it the Haymarket in Lincoln?

how big a radius are you defining as "near"? Becomes challenging for some of those on campus ones that aren't going to have many bars, etc. right next to the stadium but have some really cool spots close by

Haymarket was pretty fun
I liked the vibe of Ann Arbor but you weren't exactly close to the stadium for that
Madison is fun around the stadium but more for the house parties and yard drinking
PSU felt like the stadium was a long ways away from much of anything other than PSU sponsored pregame stuff but had some fun bars, ditto OSU
Oregon has some cool stuff right around Autzen

As a non B10 what I remember of Boulder was a good time lol.

I agree with some others that during football season, there are places for "sit down" vibe if you want that at Malcolm and Surly (or OShaugnessy as well). Does seem like a space they could do a ton for the vibe of pregame in that spot if they so chose to

That's what happens when landlords get greedy. Mesa's rent went up 39%

https://mndaily.com/city/mesa-pizza...fter-rent-increase/11/09/2025/eicmndaily-com/
Right. It has to be about landlord "greed." Could it possibly be that the building was losing money prior to this landlord buying it? Could it be that the landlord's expenses had increased too? Like... property taxes? Insurance? Maintenance? Employee salaries/benefits? Could it be that the last landlord did not keep up with prior year expense increases by adjusting rent appropriately? When a landlord is willing to let a tenant walk away rather than keep a lease in place at a lower rate, then that landlord makes zero dollars. That's not about "greed."

Strip club...no not that. This!
