Per Pat:

There is no fan base for a Gophers athletic director that feels more entitlement than the hockey hardcores; the ones ages 35-40 and above who write checks. This is still true on the men’s side, where the last NCAA title came in 2003. On the women’s side, the number of boosters is much smaller, but it seems a mystery as to why the Gophers have fallen behind Wisconsin and Ohio State to such a degree.

Little surprised about Frost as he was an assistant when the program started, but will see what happens. Men's side you really have a ten year max window before this job eats you alive and honestly if you don't get a Natty in the first five years it's probably never going to happen, as every coach seems to get sucked into the same pattern of roster building in the end
 

Pat’s pals got fired because they weren’t winning titles, which is the expectation for the hockey programs. This isn’t anything new. If you don’t like the expectations don’t take the job and money.

I don't disagree with that, but the Job Description and landscape for College Sports in general and Hockey specifically has greatly changed from when Motzko was hired 8 seasons ago.

Every player on the roster is now a Free Agent, every year. NIL was not a thing. Canadian Juniors is also a massive sea change.

This feels like a rather unique circumstance in which the parting was genuinely mutual.
