The Mountain West is in serious dialogue to add FCS powerhouse North Dakota State as a football-only member starting this coming season

Air Force will probably generate interest.
I suppose the triple option aspect could drive some curiosity. There will also be a general novelty and curiosity to see just how well the Bison will do against these new division teams. But I don't think they're going to have that much trouble competing.

Going independent is only going to become more difficult to near impossible because of scheduling. Especially if the conferences are going to all go to 9 conference games. I think this is why Sac St. became so desperate that they paid their way into a terrible conference. They wouldn't have been able to schedule as an independent.
That's fine but I'm talking about when Liberty forced its way into FBS as an independent starting in the 2018 season. No one can convince me that NDSU could not have done the same, say starting in the 2019 season.

They chose not to and wanted to wait specifically for a conference invite.

The one thing about the academies, is they are, in a sense, national brands.

NDSU draws NIU, Wyoming, Nevada and UTEP for home matchups and has Hawaii, New Mexico, UNLV and Air Force on the road. They avoid the hated San Joses this year. I know the scrap heap conferences want as many P4 matchups as possible to help pay the bills, but I wonder how long until they, too, go to a 9 game conference schedule (if they have 10 teams) since P4 matchups will be harder to come by?

UNLV Athletic Dept has sent out a message specifically about this home game this fall. No date was provided. I'm betting that a bunch of ND folks trek to Vegas for this one.

Vegas and Hawaii should be easy road trips to sell, at least until the novelty wears off.

It's North Dakota, those two places will never wear off. They would run out of money before they ran out of interest leaving Fargo or the State in general for those two locations. It's a shame they get them both on the road in the same year. Would be beneficial to them to split those up. Now, ABQ, CSprings, and Laramie could get old for some. They will be surprised with Reno if the venture out to nearby Tahoe and Truckee. Normal and El Paso? Gonna pass on those.

El Paso has a great football venue IMO. No reason to spend more than a couple days there, one for football and one for margaritas/TexMex, but it’s worth a trip.

Also where a lot of the action in the movie Sicario is based around!

Came across this today. Didn't realize he played 9 games and started at left tackle in the playoff game against Illinois State as a true freshman. Played for Buffalo.

I’m really surprised he wasn’t lured away from NDSU this year. Also was impressed by Bryce Lance’s combine numbers, I had no clue he was that athletic.

Set Buffalo's school record in shot put at over 63 feet.

Definitely not good enough to play in the Big Ten! Glad we didn't recruit him here!

According to the internet NDSU has increased donations by 500 percent since announcing the move. Included was a 5 million dollar donation.

NDSU to FBS/MWC has been amazing so far. I haven’t been on here to talk about. Too busy dealing with national press

NDSU has solid schedule , it’s weird to anticipate a loss or 2 ….

NDSU has Oregon in 2027. But we really want a couple more Power 4 games. US Bank will host a home game for us soon I predict vs a Power 4

Well that's cute. Bless your little hearts!

Call me a tommie homer but shouldn’t NDSU football have to have its own board?

Bump the thread by the way

What's your definition of a home game? Good luck trying to find an open weekend that works during Vikings season. Maybe you can hold your spring game there...

Pretty sure just about every Saturday in September and October at the Zygi Dome is available to rent in order to stage a football contest.

Could possibly be scheduled around September 2nd. I say September 2nd because that is the date NDSU played Eastern Washington at US Bank Stadium in 2023…..

If you don't think Minneapolis and the Vikings aren't going to host an NDSU game, you are mistaken.
