Invitational Tournament in Sioux Falls in November, 2026

Per a Gopher release today:

The University of Minnesota women's basketball team has agreed to play in a doubleheader at the Sanford Pentagon in November 2026 and November 2027. Teams joining alongside the Golden Gophers are Nebraska, Kansas, and Kansas State.

On Nov. 14, 2026, Nebraska will face Kansas while Minnesota squares off with Kansas State. On Nov. 6, 2027, Nebraska will take on Kansas State and Minnesota will face Kansas. Broadcast information, game times, and ticket information will be determined at a later date.

The doubleheaders in 2026 and 2027 are the renewal of "The Invitational," which the Sanford Pentagon has hosted twice previously in 2021 and 2022.

Coach P was at the helm of South Dakota Coyotes team that took part in both of those events. In 2020, they faced South Carolina and Gonzaga. In 2021, they faced South Carolina.

The 2021 matchups were South Carolina vs. South Dakota and Arizona vs. Louisville and in 2022 the one matchup was South Carolina vs. South Dakota State.

South Dakota, South Carolina, and Gonzaga all played each other in the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic in 2020. I don't know if there any differences between all these events except names.

It's a really good venue for these TV special games they host. I've been twice to see the ISU men's team play there including their game vs Miss State this season. Chance to get REALLY good seats in a small venue. Definitely recommend a roadie over to see them play. Full disclosure, the tickets (at least for the men's game this year) and really spendy.
