2026 Winter Olympics

kinda rude he skips luke haha. Crazy she had 3 kids 4 and under and was doing all that she did. She's pretty damn epic if you read about her path and history and can see why her kids are crazy talented.

was a good Women's Frozen Four that year though for those that know

Edit: Jim (the dad) ain't no slouch either, but beside the above point

If Quinn and Jack were 4 and 2 was Luke born yet at that point?

Gold medal hockey had a higher TV viewership than gold medal MBB in Paris. Let that one soak in.
Jack >>> LeBron

really massive overall viewership spike compared to the prior. add to it you have US-Canada and a lot of people tuning into the Olympics this year as a whole (Liu's skate in women's figure skating was the highest viewership thing, so I guess Alysa>Lebron as well lol).

Vindicates NBC choice to pay a premium to get the Olympics and that's about it. Think we'll probably see pretty big numbers for the viewership here with them well surpassing the current numbers because the time zone difference (which dictates a ton; was part of why Sochi sucked as you were having to watch things at crazy weird hours).

No one cares about men's olympic bball until the US starts losing more frequently. They've lost 6 games ever and once since 2004.

but also, hell yeah Jack over Lebron any day of the week

LeBron has done more to damage and reduce interest in the NBA than anyone in recent memory. Not even close really. Just awful for the game and fan interest, watching him flop around, among a litany of other behaviors

Quit watching after Jordan retired

the NBA has murdered their product via Steph Curry vastly more than through Lebron who couldn't shoot for shit when he joined the league. They don't play defense anymore because over the last ten years, all players do is shoot 3s from the outside (which oddly coincides perfectly with Adam Silver taking over, who didn't like the "aesthetic" of the 90s game and wanted to reward skill>physicality). So many half assed possessions with guys launching a late 3 after playing iso ball. It's just a damn boring product, especially when you also have half of stars sitting out every 3rd game because of "load management" and another 30% of the league actively tanking. If you want to blame Lebron for empowering (if that's the right word) players to do that and orgs to agree to that, then that's fine, but that's seemed way more owner than player driven.

Add to it now and your "best" players are all foreign and interest is at an all-time low because SGA is unwatchable and Luka for as fun as some of the shit he does is, also is unbearable. Lebron's FT rate for the shots he takes is actually pretty low (similar to Giannis) because they're both pretty big guys and get slapped and it's not called (it's also part of Ant's problem in that he goes through so much contact) where a guy who's more svelte like SGA flails all over the place it any contact.

I don't blame a guy for doing it as they're rewarded for it. If the NBA was serious, they'd add flagrants or techs for flopping and back up the 3pt line. no one wants to see a 3 on almost every other possession. People want to see defenders going at it and locking in on defense.

Summer. Americans have things to do. This past Sunday there was a raging blizzard across the East Coast.

The Gold Medal Basketball game was in August. I chose to golf instead.

If the Gold Medal Hockey game was anytime between daylight hours May - October, I would choose to golf.

NO WOKE MESSAGING FUCK YEAH!!1!
no one tell them about Jack's stance on NHL Pride Night

He seems like a really good young guy and a really solid family. Very well spoken overall in all his interviews historically (his letter to himself that ESPN aired just before he was taken #1 overall was pretty cool). Parents seem to have done something right with them, not only from the athletics stance but also from how well-spoken and inclusive they all have seemed to be in their interviews and actions. I dislike that any of these athletes are being brought up by either side as political tools/references and I do also wish interviewers would quit asking (the Olympics got pretty ridiculous with this). Only real negative I can come up with for the Hughes fam is that Luke and Quinn went to Michigan which we all know is the wrong M choice.

Hopefully we can get Jack to leave NJ and come to MN to play with his bro (and bring Luke along with too)
