Much respect to Jack Gibbens.

Always cool when you see those athletes or high profile figures that just "get it". Fleck has shown an eye for finding/developing those kind of players/people.

Side note - during the interview Jack makes a comment about "being where your feet are" (sports cliche, not related in any way to the reporter)....I guarantee his teammates are going to give him so much crap for saying that to a legless reporter :)

Jack is getting a ton of praise for this.....that is awesome to see a guy getting rewarded for just being a good dude.

Go Gophers!!
For those who didn't read article, Mr. Stevens played 3 years of college football at Augsburg in Minneapolis (my alma mater), and was a 3-sport athlete in high school (football, baseball, wrestling). Very happy to see he's had an illustrious career in journalism also. And props to Jack Gibbens for representing Gopher football culture. RTB, SUM, Go Gophers!!

For those like me that were curious to see what it looked like when he played baseball there is some footage here.

Dude has the heart needed to be an elite athlete unfortunately he got a raw deal on the physical side but still found a way to turn a negative into a positive.

Gibbens is probably a top five for sure top 10 favorite Gopher of mine all time. He came in and had a huge impact and is likely due for a decent payday next year.

Incredible story, and I don't wanna be that guy, but I have to ask.

What is his strike zone?

There is a clip of him striking out looking for the Saints so whatever it was the pitcher found it :)

Really impressive how quick he is able to move. Wasn't familiar with his story at all but is pretty amazing.

I think he played on the Saints with Strawberry.
