Adding to the frustration is the fact a first year coach in the Big Ten will rarely get a key call in crunch time—it’s an initiation rite. Then add the Minnesota element and you have an officiating double whammy in conjunction with serious injury misfortune for the year. I commend Niko’s self-control after rewatching the Carrington kickout and Blackwell push-off.

How could MN basketball ever be the new Nebraska football? We have wallowed in suck for 26 years and have no fantasies of being national champions. We would enjoy making it in the top 7 of the conference and win a couple games in March madness.

Five year run with a record of 60-3. and three national championships. Maybe I am not up on my Gopher Basketball history but I struggle to find a time when the Gophers even approached this level... the Gophers have not finished the season ranked more than two years in a row in their history.

He was being sarcastic. He was trying to compare them to the Nebraska team that lost every close game during Scott Frosts tenure. Not comparing them to Nebraska that thinks they should be a powerhouse again.

Gophers are the reverse Bears of this year or reverse Vikings of KOCs first year coaching. Those teams won all the of the one score games, we are losing all of these close games.

I saw somebody comment that we needed to run screens to get Durkin open in the second half.
We must have run 35 screens for Durkin in the second half ( certainly at least one on every half-court possession) and Wisconsin stayed with him for all but the 1 late in the game. Never saw Nico complain much about it because he was probably thinking "That's how I teach my guys to fight through and around screens".

Watch him during the game, he's pissed. Niko doesn't make excuses. And why get fined and antagonize officials that already don't give you calls.

Yeah, some fans want a coach to blow their top and scream at refs but that gets you nowhere.

Niko actually was in the officials ears most of the night. And, quite intensely on a few occasions.

Entire premise that he wasn't complaining is just false.

He is no Jim Boeheim or Bo Ryan or Fran McCaffery, but he is way more active with the refs than Ben Johnson, Richard Pitino or Tubby Smith.
