Surprised he didn't include the phone number for the Pubic Defender's office.
 

For those that have seen We Are Marshall, the part where Bowden allows their new coaches to study film and their playbook at their facility was largely true. Bowden was previously a candidate for the Marshall job that was given to Rick Tolley that ended up dying in the crash.

In their final game of the season shortly after the crash, Bowden requested that his West Virginia team be able to wear Marshall uniforms and play their scheduled opponent but the NCAA declined the request.

Typical NCAA. That would have been great and hurt no one.

It's funny how teams will have conditioning videos posted to their social media channels year round and then "move in day" videos ... like weren't they just working out 2 weeks ago?

I'm surprised he didn't just go ahead and do it anyway.

I always wondered how Bowden felt about recruiting Joe Mauer, only to find out that it appeared that Mauer used that FSU commitment, to improve his MLB leverage. If I recall, Mauer was going to move into his FSU dorm the day before he signed his MLB contract.
 

It's pretty much exactly what had happened a few years earlier with Chris Weinke, and Mauer was a much more highly regarded baseball prospect than Weinke, so I don't think Bowden could have been all that surprised.

Around the time that Mauer was elected to the HOF the story circulated that Mauer's agent (Ron Shapiro) told him that, if he moved into his FSU dorm, he could use that as leverage to get more money out of the Twins. Mauer refused beccause he thought it would be disrespectful to Bowden and agreed to the Twins last offer.
