Kids are idiots, I'd imagine they are leaking numbers themselves, no? I can't imagine these locker rooms are full of mysterious NIL purses. Do we really think these kids are unaware of what others are making?

Someone saying they are making $300k doesn’t mean they are making $300k.

If it’s leaked on officials documents? Then you know for sure

It can definitely happen in the corporate world too. People jump ship all the time when they find out someone making more money or has a better bonus structure in the same role, especially when they are the more productive employee. Or they find out the company is paying more for new talent and not taking care of what's in house

Agree. Welcome to the real world of paying players. Half the work force thinks they are underpaid. I know I worked 40 plus years and atleast 39 years I thought I was underpaid.
 


Wait so you mean that ole Miss locker room wasn’t as harmonious as thought?

The only way I could see this being a thing is if the coaches/NIL people said you’re all getting the same, then they started showing contracts and it wasn’t. Same type of deal when an employer hires people and says don’t talk about salary, but you do and you all come to find out you’re getting different things for the same work. That’s just bad culture

I'm not sure Fleck would take him no matter how good he is. He was previously dismissed from Clemson. He allegedly was taking photos of his teammates in the locker room and selling them via onlyfans. There's nothing official announced about that but it's been the rumor for several years.

Dang didn't know that. Yeah that does not seem like something Fleck would be chasing. Good player though.
 

I have an out-of-left-field question. We've touched on this a bit in the Perich tax angle thread (and I don't want to re-visit that), but are the players receiving remuneration beyond their scholarship considered public employees? If so, everyone should be able to see what they are being paid. I'm not contending they are, but it's another murky area that will likely get cleared up in the next few years.

No and for public employees only their wages from said public employer is visible to the public. If they had other sources of income similar to endorsement deals then that would not be shared.

The average age of NBA rookie class this year was 19.3 years old. I'd be pretty surprised if that wasn't about a year younger than the average age of the Ole Miss football team.

Yeah, the hurt feelings have less to do with age and more to do with how secret everything is at the college level. In the pro ranks you know there is a pecking order and what not but everyone knows what kind of contracts players a signing because it is out in the open and regulated.
 

I'd love to see the contacts leaked publicly. It would paint the real picture for better or worse.
