Current hypothetical 2026 Roster so far = 113 (8 over limit). Obviously, several players from the 2025 roster who didn't "walk" and haven't formally entered the portal must be on the chopping block or simply plan to leave/retire after the school year. We have 31 HS recruits who signed LOIs, and 17 transfer commitments so far (48 new players) and I doubt PJ is done with the portal yet...
I've changed my accounting to simply add the number of players currently listed on the carryover 2025 roster plus incoming F who have signed LOIs plus transfer players who have committed. I suspect that there are a number of players still listed on the 2025 carryover roster who either will enter the portal before it closes (to preserve their transfer right into the spring and summer) or who will simply retire from football before next fall. Sometimes the carryover roster changes because players leave/retire quietly, without making an announcement. I'll try to monitor that. Anyway, the hypothetical 2026 roster of DLs is currently greater in number than one would expect. DB seems high, too, but if we are transforming to a primarily two LB + nickel back defense, then it looks right in relation to LBs.
(First numeric column is players currently on carry-over roster from 2025 season, second is HS recruits who have signed an LOI, third is transfers who have committed, and the fourth is the current hypothetical roster number in 2026)
DL: 15 + 5 + 3 = 23
DB: 12 + 6 + 4 = 22
LB: 6 + 2 + 1 = 9
Total Defense so far, 54
QB: 3 + 2 + 1 = 6
TE: 4 + 3 + 1 = 8
RB: 4 + 3 + 2 = 9
WR 4 + 5 + 3 = 12
OL: 11 + 5 + 1 = 17
Total Offense so far, 52
P: 2 + 0 + 1 = 3
K: 1 + 0 + 1 = 2
L/S: 2 + 0 + 0 = 2
Total Special Teams so far, 7
