It is an absolute shame not to give the band a few minutes of airtime from yesterday’s game. Those kids work hard and put on a great halftime show. (It’s on U Tube.)
One less commercial and a few minutes less BS from the network geniuses would be all it would take.

Thanks for the post. If anyone is interested:

I believe it’s in the contract with the Rose Bowl & ESPN that each band is shown at halftime for a certain amount of time.

And it was why a decent percentage of the people watched. It was the most important part of game day to them.
Unfortunately, the average current fan and the slate of TV advertisers don't care.

They maybe can stream it, but I don't think more than 5% of viewers would ever watch.

When your team was only on TV 1-2 times a year it was fun. Now it's no more than a time filler for all the 13 or more games your team plays.

Live, it's great. On TV, not so much.

I understand what you say and feel bad too. Unfortunately, those days are long gone. We are lucky to have a great band program.

From a marketing standpoint, it's one of the many differentiators of the college game vs the NFL. If I were marketing the college game, it's something I'd push as the reason to watch us vs them. As an example, the marketing folks push all the trophy games, why not also push the marching bands?

BTW, of this season's half-time shows, I'm voting for the one with Chad Smith as being the best. I really liked that one.
