Why 2018? (why not 2017, 2019, 2021, or any other year?)

Did you include 2020, and if so why?

Are these only P4 wins? If not then I don't know how valuable including wins against FCS is ...

Because thats the year I picked. Feel free to do another thread where you pick a different year?

Yes because it was faster to add up if I don’t have to think when I did it

This is all win. Feel free to not care if you choose to I guess?

lol

Why the nitpicking???

What year would you start with? Honest question? I think 2017 would be fair too since that was flecks first year

College football changed massively with NIL and now the House settlement.

Don't think it makes any sense to go back pre-covid, so I'd do 2021 onward. And would only count P4 games. No sense counting others, to me

Yeah that’s fair.
This thread counts more games and further back.

I might start another thread of just power 4 wins since thanksgiving

We all know 2017/Year Zero doesn't count.

That's a GIven.
Well it could count and it would change the numbers

But this thread isn’t really about fleck.
This thread as about the program.
I think if you want to compare the program to the rest of the conference or country as an “era” the turnaround to this level really was either fleck year 2 (2018) or Kill year 4 (2014)

If you’re trying to analyze fleck you’d either start in 17 or you’d start in 2021 (post covid) or post 2023 NIL (or whenever that was)

I think you picked as good of a break point as any. No matter what year you choose there could be "why didn't you choose 20xx Year" since 2011:

2011 > Nebraska joined Big 10 / Championship Game / Divisions - Legends & Leaders

2014 > Maryland & Rutgers joined Big 10 / East - West Divisions

2016 > 9 Game Big 10 schedule (up from 8)

2019 > Transfer Portal / 4 Game Redshirt Rule

2020 > COVID Year

2021 > Bonus 5TH Year & Transfer Sit Out Year Waived / NIL

2023 > Big 10 Media Rights Bonanza moving from ESPN to CBS & NBC

2024 > PAC 4 joined Big 10 / Division-less / Non-interlocking schedule

Pleasing everyone is a Fool's Errand.

2020 and 2021 are massive, the others barely even register compared to those

House settlement could be even larger but obviously not enough seasons to be meaningful

While 2020 & 2021 are no doubt a greater impact, I disagree with your minimization of the other events with how they impacted the Gophers.

They others significantly impacted the Gophers schedule make-up, thus Win totals. Especially the Divisions.

Before 2011 for example they were playing Penn St, Ohio St & Michigan each about 80% of the time, and pretty much guaranteed 2 of 3.

Now most seasons just 1.

Indiana, Maryland & Rutgers were getting the snot pounded out of them with 3 automatic losses year after year for a decade.

I have also updated the list to include going to a 9 Game Conference in 2016.

The easiest era in the big ten was the period from Penn state addition until Nebraska was added.
Particularly after a 12th regular season game was added.
You only played 8/10 in the conference (and MN was locked with Iowa and Wisconsin so they really only played 6/8). Plus 3 cupcakes in that era for the most part. After 2001 4 cupcakes until brew started scheduling people.

Wisconsin has big ten titles without ever beating a top 3 team in the conference.
2003 Mn went 10-3 and finished ranked but didn’t beat a team in the top HALF of the league

The league was also probably the most balanced it’s ever been from 1994-tressel getting hired at Ohio state so missing the big 3 meant something a little different than it does now. Really until 2004 it was a pretty balanced league. From 1994-2004 8 different programs won a big ten title. A 9th added a title in 2010.
From 1994-2010 every team in the conference won a conference title except Minnesota and Indiana
