As I've watched McCarthy this season, he's reminding me a lot of Brett Favre (especially during his early career). McCarthy trusts his arm and his body way too much right now (and his arm is not as strong as Favre's, but McCarthy can actually spell his own name so there is a trade-off). There were a couple of times yesterday when a touch pass would have been in order and instead he went Nolan Ryan from six or eight yards away. And it would be one thing is he were tucking, running, and sliding, but McCarthy looks like he's channeling Dave Osborn (hanging out in Paul Krause's garage on a Maxy football segment last Thursday). He has to use better judgment with both his arm and his legs.
A little off-topic, but I see Hockenson's measly rating from PFF and I have to ask "Does Hockenson know the fundamentals of blocking?"
